Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 344 Goodnight

Clingy little Lucky refused to leave Natalie's side, so he stayed in her bedroom. Cassian stood at his own door, glanced at the one next to it—Natalie's room—and said, "So what? I'll move in there sooner or later." Natalie punched him. "Cut the crap." Cassian just smiled and started back into his room. "Wait," Natalie asked, "are you really staying over tonight?" "Yeah," Cassian said. "I'm wiped out. Can't take another step." He really had worked hard all day. Natalie nodded. "Alright. Goodnight. Get some rest." But Cassian didn't go in yet. He looked straight at her. "I may be too tired to walk, but I can still do other things." Natalie frowned. "Like what?" Cassian just stared at her without a word. She suddenly realized what he meant and smacked him again. "Guess you're not tired enough! Go sleep at your own place!" Cassian quickly shut the door. "Goodnight!" Natalie stared at the closed door and almost laughed. So much for the cold, bossy CEO vibe—he was acting more and more like a shameless rogue. Just as she turned to head back to her room, Cassian's door opened again. "Nattie, where should I hang my clothes?"He leaned on the doorframe, a T-shirt dangling from one hand, watching her lazily. His broad chest and solid arms were on full display. Tight muscles, a clean set of abs, and faint lines running down to ... Oops. The waistband of his pants covered the rest. Natalie swallowed hard. Seduction. This was straight-up seduction. She kept her face calm, but her nose felt hot. She quickly covered it—this was not the time for a nosebleed. Still, her eyes were glued to him. Cassian saw her reaction and smirked. "Come in." "Okay," Natalie answered automatically, stepping toward him. Then froze. "Wait, why would I go in there?" She glared at the man's bright smile. Devil! He's a devil! She almost fell for it. When she stopped short, Cassian pressed his lips together, looking disappointed. Her guard was sharper than he thought. He grinned again. "If you don't come in, how will you help me find a hanger?" Then he added, "Nattie, are you thinking something dirty again?" Natalie glanced at his chest and snapped, "I only think what you make me think."Cassian raised a brow. "Oh? And what exactly am I making you think?" She glanced at his lean waistline, then bolted down the stairs. "The hangers are downstairs. I'll grab them!" Cassian chuckled as he watched her flee. Finally, all that time in the gym paid off. So this was what she liked. Even Lucky, sitting nearby, thought Cassian's smile looked terrifying. He seemed ready to swallow Natalie whole. The pup wagged nervously and decided to warn her. Downstairs, Natalie ducked into the bathroom to check her reflection. No nosebleed. Thank God. Otherwise, she'd never live with the shame. She grabbed a bundle of hangers from the storage room and went back up. Lucky circled her, whining. "Ow, ow!" Natalie, dangerous! Natalie crouched. "You mean it's dangerous upstairs? You want me to stay down here?" Lucky wagged her tail hard. Finally, she understood her. Natalie rubbed her head. But no matter what, she still had to go back up. Her bedroom was there. After calming her down, she went upstairs—with Lucky at her heels. Cassian was still standing exactly where she'd left him, same pose, still waiting. Natalie froze for a second, then muttered, "Quit pretending. Even Lucky sees what you're up to." Cassian glanced at the pup, who was glaring at him like a guard dog. He almost laughed. "And what am I up to, exactly?" Natalie and Lucky answered at the same time. Lucky barked. "Ow, ow, ow!" You're gonna eat her! Natalie accused, "You're trying to seduce me." "Ow?" Lucky tilted her head, confused. Cassian smirked. "Guess you two don't agree." Natalie rolled her eyes and shoved the hangers into his hand. "Enough already. I'm going to bed." She really was exhausted after the long day. Cassian didn't tease her again. He just smiled. "Goodnight." And they each went to their own rooms. Meanwhile, over at Olivia's place, things had finally settled down. The house was four stories—three above ground and a basement. Olivia and Harold claimed the first floor and basement. Ghania was older, and climbing stairs was too hard for her, so the first floor made sense. The windowless rooms in the basement were perfect for Harold's lab. And the side rooms with light wells could be used for growing food.
