Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 332 Mr Holland's Friend

Mr. Holland's friend? Dave muttered in thought. At the mention of Cassian's name, Theodore immediately perked up with interest. "You mean that uptight guy, Cassian, actually recommended a girl to move in?" He grinned playfully. "Then I've gotta go see for myself." Dave shot him a disapproving look. "Don't you dare go causing trouble!" Then he turned to Walter. "So, what kind of friend of Cassian's is this? How old is she?" Walter thought back to the photo he had seen on Natalie's phone. From Cassian's expression in the picture, she was probably his girlfriend. But since there was no proof, he did not dare speculate, so he kept it vague. "She's a very close friend of Mr. Holland's, in her twenties." "In her 20s ... " Dave seemed to catch on. He leaned back in his chair. "Since she's someone Mr. Holland vouched for, it's fine for her to move in." Theodore piped up with obvious curiosity. "This girl must mean a lot to Cassian, huh? He even gave her a gun." He just assumed weapons like that had to be from Cassian's family stash. Dave shot him a warning glare. "Stay away from her. Don't make trouble." Standing to the side, Walter secretly let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, the Mervyns were not pressing further about him letting her in. After a moment, he added, "That girl actually used to live here." "Oh?" Dave immediately asked, "What's her name?"Theodore leaned in, eager to hear. Walter answered, "Natalie Ashford, Jacob Ashford's daughter." Theodore thought for a second, then muttered, "Never heard of her." At the mention of Jacob, Dave did not react right away. A few seconds later, it clicked. "Oh, she's the granddaughter from the Kellers, right?" Walter nodded. "Yes." The Kellers' business was not quite at the Mervyns' level, but Dave had a strong impression of Scarlett. A real iron lady, admirable in every way. Their business had been thriving for years, and with more time, they might have risen even higher. What a pity ... Dave sighed. "So Natalie was driven out of the Hillside Villas, and she still survived the disaster? Impressive." Back then, when Jacob fought his way to inherit the family estate, he even kicked his own daughter out of the house. The whole community knew about it, and of course, the Mervyns had heard the gossip too. After a moment of thought, Dave asked, "What's this about the Bolton mother and daughter getting injured?" The two gatekeepers stayed silent as they really had no idea. The security guard who usually gathered information for the Mervyns stepped up and answered, "The mother and daughter are out doing a walk of shame. I just asked them about it ... " "Walk of shame?" Theodore jumped to his feet, excited.Dave frowned at him. "Sit down and behave!" Then he told the guard, "Go on." The guard said, "I asked Mrs. Bolton just now. She said she was too nosy and got taught a lesson by the new tenant. Not only did the girl shoot her and her daughter, but she also forced them to parade around the neighborhood shouting." "What were they shouting?" Before the guard could answer, faint voices of women could be heard from outside. Theodore instantly ran to the window, pushed it open, and stuck his head out to listen. Yet, he still could not make out the words as their yard was too big. The Mervyn and Holland estates sat at the highest point of the Hillside Villas, at the very end of the villa district. Not only were their houses larger than the rest, but their yards were massive as well. So, from where Isabelle was shouting on the main road, it was impossible to hear clearly from inside. Theodore gave up and bolted downstairs. Dave shouted after him a few times, but he did not stop. By the time Theodore rushed out of the villa and through their enormous yard, Isabelle had already gone further down the road. He kept chasing until he finally got close enough to hear her loud and clear. "I'll never meddle again!" "I'll never meddle again!" Theodore stopped in his tracks and snorted with laughter. "Ha! This Natalie person is pretty interesting." The summer heat had him drenched in sweat after that little sprint, so he slowed down and strolled along the main road.Meanwhile, Olivia and the others had already hauled two loads of supplies. After unloading the truck, Ghania stayed inside to rest, while Olivia and Harold carried things into Natalie's yard. Olivia walked up to Natalie, who was painting the walls. "Natalie, thank goodness for your car! We thought it'd take days to move all this, but at this rate, we'll be done today!" Natalie smiled. "That's great. Do you still need a few more trips?" Olivia shook her head. "I've got most of my stuff moved already. Mrs. Dunn and Harold have more, but after one or two more trips, they should be about done too." Natalie nodded, about to say something more, when the Bolton mother and daughter came striding toward them. Harold tensed immediately. "Aren't those the two lunatics shouting earlier? What are they doing here?"
