Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 213 The Hidden Room

Only one thing remained in the living room—a fancy, expensive-looking couch. Magnus used to lounge there every day, and who knew what kind of shady things he'd done on it. Natalie walked right past, disgusted, and started checking the other rooms on the first floor. At one doorway, she stopped in surprise. Her eyes lit up at the sight. The door wasn't normal—it had been rebuilt with a fingerprint lock and even facial recognition, like the front entrance. There had to be something valuable inside! She went back to the hall, dragged Magnus's limp body over, and pressed his finger against the lock. The door clicked open. Instead of finding treasure, Natalie experienced shock and disgust. The entire room was nothing more than the pleasure chamber of that creep. Strange equipment filled the space, along with toys no one under 18 should ever see. She backed up quickly, thankful she hadn't touched that couch earlier. Magnus hadn't even bothered to do his things in his bedroom. He'd set up his "funhouse" right on the first floor. And he had wanted her to be the lady of the base? The thought made her stomach turn. She slammed the door shut with a kick. "All this junk, and you put a fingerprint lock on it? What a waste!" Natalie thought it would be something valuable—what a waste of her time and excitement. Natalie moved to another door, also secured with the same lock. This time, there had to be something useful. The lock beeped open. A soft pink light flicked on automatically. Red fabric hung from the ceiling. For a second she thought—yoga silks? But no. The walls were lined with whips, handcuffs, blindfolds, and even tails made to look like fox fur. In the center stood a bizarre chair covered in handles and straps. Natalie froze. "What... what is this?!" She was speechless. Her face twisted in disgust. She swung Magnus's head against the wall twice in frustration. "You old creep! What goes on in that brain of yours?" With another angry kick, she shut the door. There was only one more locked room left on the first floor. Natalie sighed. She didn't even want to look. It was probably just more filth. Clearly, this whole floor was nothing but Magnus's personal "entertainment center." She headed toward the stairs, planning to check upstairs instead. Her foot was already on the first step when she paused. Then she turned back to the room she hadn't checked out. Since she was already here, she might as well open the last door. Worst case, she'd need to go scrub her eyes later. The moment the door unlocked with a fingerprint and face scan, Natalie instinctively turned her head and shut her eyes for a second. She braced herself before opening them again—then froze in surprise. A small armory. She almost missed it. All thanks to that old creep. Filled with anger, she slammed Magnus's head against the wall twice, producing a dull thud-thud sound. Inside, the room was lined with weapons. Not cheap kitchen knives or axes, but high-quality blades, swords, and clubs. What caught her attention the most was a crossbow. Beside it sat a pile of sharp bolts. To her, it was the deadliest long-range weapon next to a gun—far better than the nail gun she carried. There were also sabers sharp enough to slice steel, spiked maces, nunchucks she didn't even know how to use, and more. Who knew where Magnus had scavenged all this? Natalie didn't waste time studying them. She shoved the whole lot into her storage space. She found about 20 stun batons too, which she grabbed as well. In the center of the armory stood something out of place—a fragile vase. Among all the steel and iron, it looked odd, almost suspicious. It reminded her of the hidden chamber she once found in that office at the mall. She walked over and twisted the vase. Sure enough, a secret wall panel slid open.Inside was a small storage space, about the size of a closet. On the shelves sat two pistols, an assault rifle, and three shotguns. Some called them boomsticks—nothing beat them up close. Natalie's storage space had been missing just that, and now her arsenal felt complete. She picked them up one by one, inspecting them. They looked homemade, but that didn't matter—they'd work just fine. No wonder Kelvin turned to Magnus during the party when he heard Cyril had been killed with an assault rifle. Natalie had noticed their reaction then and thought it strange. Now it made sense. They had rifles of their own. Magnus, though, never carried his. He hid them here, probably thinking Northlorn wasn't dangerous enough yet to justify using such heavy weapons. Well, his mistake was her gain. Natalie let out a quiet breath. Natalie couldn't help but think how lucky she was to sneak in first. If Magnus and Kelvin had brought these rifles and shotguns with them to hunt her down at Maplecourt, things would have turned ugly fast. The sight of these weapons reminded her of one thing—she wasn't the only one with firepower out there. She swept the guns and three full crates of ammo into her storage, then headed upstairs to the second floor.
