Harvest Moon: Bound to My Four Stepbrothers
Inti’s p.o.v. I was surprised to say the least to hear about the Wolves and Lycans, but what surprised me the most was the possibility of an ambush. I knew who was giving me the information, but I also knew that she couldn’t see the other side of the convoy and that is why I let Ronion fall back. Jocelyn told me wat she saw and how she determined that we were heading for an ambush, she also suggested that I could sent Herold ahead as a scout. I went back to the front of the convoy and gave out my orders the moment I was back in place. “Lycans should be attacked by at least three Warriors, they are to strong otherwise. Watch each other’s back, I want all of us to return in one piece.” I say through the mind-link I only pulled our male Warriors into. Everyone else knows what to do in this case, we have gone over it a hundred times and I think anyone can dream this by now. I just hope that we will be able to take care of this threat quickly, I am not sure how things will turn out without a high-ranking member resent. I will worry about that later, for now I need to focus on the task at hand and to get my Pack-members out of here. “Let’s get this over with. The sooner this is done, the sooner we can be on our way again.” Ronion growls in my head, both of us done with this war and the consequences of the attacks. We follow the road to the right and just as Herold said, our path is blocked by at least twenty Wolves and Lycans. Jocelyn was right though, none of them has a high rank and that will make this a little easier. The only ones I am really worried about are the Lycans. If you give them half the chance, they will pull you limb from limb and I want to prevent that at almost any cost. “Now.” I order through the mind-link and we move in two directions, creating a path for our convoy. The first two SUVs are the heaviest and they have no trouble in running a few Wolves over, others get knocked in front of the SUVs as their buddies try to save themselves. A Lycan heads straight for me, he isn’t the smartest as he lunges for Ronion. Ronion lowers himself to the ground, rolling sideways to avoid the attack and slashing his claw across the Lycan’s abdomen at the same time. As Ronion rises from the ground, he grabs a Wolf by the throat that tries to get by us and rips the throat out. The Lycan has gotten up in the meantime and Ronion lunges for him the moment he stumbles a bit, biting down on his side. The Lycan pulls away from Ronion and a large chunk of flesh gets ripped from his side. He manages to release a howl, but Ronion has already clamped down on his throat, ending his life in seconds. Ronion turns to his left to see two Wolves ganging up on a Pack-member and he knocks both of them to the ground. It startles both Wolves and before they can get up they are dead, we both turn our attention to the fight behind us. Both of our Wolves jumping into action at the sight of a Lycan approaching, the Warrior goes low and Ronion goes in high for the kill. We rip the Lycan in two and drop the pieces as we move on to our next target. We might outnumber this group, but the Lycans among them make it difficult for us and it takes a long time for us to kill each of them. Our fighting numbers are becoming less and our only opponents left are Lycans, three of them. “Split up in three groups and surround the Lycans, tear them apart.” Ronion growls through the mind-link and we attack the three Lycans at the same time, tearing through their flesh.Ronion howls in victory as the last body drops to the ground and after getting our wounded onto the back of a Wolf, we head out to catch up with the convoy. I hope that Indigo is awake by the time we get back, I would like to find out a little bit more about what happened to her and Jocelyn. I doubt they chose to head in this direction on a whim and I would like to know what they encountered along the way. Three Wolves are ahead of us, making sure we don’t run into any more trouble and the rest of us move as fast as we can. The sun is coming up and it probably means that we will not run into other Wolves and Lycans again, but Ronion stays on high alert. He feels that trouble isn’t over yet and I just hope that he is wrong. “Do you think that we can catch up with them?” Herold asks and no one has to tell me who he means with them or why he asks. In Wolf form it is more difficult to tell what time it is, but I doubt we are that far behind that they will leave the clearing before we get there. The convoy was told to drive as fast as they could without putting anyone’s life in danger and to make sure that the female Warriors could keep up with them. “We will. I think we might even be able to get a few hours of rest.” I answer his question and it seems to give everyone a little moral boost. One of the Warriors starts to hum on of my favorite songs and in seconds the others join him in humming Einsamer Hirte. A completely instrumental piece, I play it often in my office and Ronion and I join the others in humming. If anyone could hear us now, they would probably call us certifiably nuts and who could blame them. Can you imagine a group of about eighty Wolves, each of them covered in blood and other muck, while humming a song? You had a good laugh, didn’t you?
