Harvest Moon: Bound to My Four Stepbrothers

Chapter 632 An Ambush

Joseph’s p.o.v. Griffin is laughing his ass off, but I don’t think it was that funny. “Of course it was funny. She doesn’t know your name and I am a golden Wolf, so Golden Boy isn’t that farfetched.” Griffin says and continues to laugh his ass off. Our convoy travels at a slower pace than Inti wants but I had given him a choice, either we travel at a slower pace or we would stop for a few hours to give him and the Warriors that accompanied him time to rest. He chose the first option, not willing to get behind on schedule too much. Movement to the right side of the convoy.” A female Warrior calls out through the mind-link and we all wait for another up-date. “About twelve Wolves and Lycans, no Alpha present.” The same female Warrior states and I wonder how she can tell that they are Wolves and Lycans. It is in the middle of the night and they are running within the forest, making it difficult to see the difference. We are still an hour or two away from daylight, making it more difficult for us to protect the convoy. Only our Warriors have ever run border patrol and know what to expect, it is the rest of our Pack-members I worry about at the moment. Griffin wants to attack them head on, but I manage to talk him down from his idiotic thought. We don’t know if they will attack us or that they are trying to get to safety, just like us. “Alpha, we are approaching a sharp turn to the right and the Wolves and Lycans have disappeared from sight. We could be heading into a trap.” We hear and I wonder how she knows the route this well, even I don’t know it at the top of my head and I was the one to mark the route we are taking. I see Ronion fall back towards a female Warrior, but his attention is on the SUV and Griffin wants to follow his lead. “If he needs us, he will call for us.” I say to Griffin and I am met with a soft growl. It is clear that whoever is talking to Ronion and Inti has their undivided attention, my eyes keep shifting between Inti and the tree line. I can’t detect any movement in the tree line and I wonder whoever is talking to Inti is right in their assumptions. “Herold, take a small group of Warriors with you. Head into the forest to your left and move ahead along the road, you are going to be our eyes out there.” Inti orders through the mind-link. Herold is followed by eight of our Warriors and they disappear into the forest within seconds. Ronion moves back to the front of the convoy again and the female Warrior moves closer to the SUV again, probably as a conduit between Inti and whoever he was looking at. “Jocelyn is in that SUV.” Griffin says and I can feel myself getting a bit uncomfortable, she is in no condition to fight. “There are about twenty Wolves and Lycans out here and it doesn’t look like they want to invite us over for breakfast.” Herold reports back after about ten minutes and I know we won’t be able to get away without a fight. Our Youngsters know what we expect them to do and I hope we can keep our unmated females safe, that is why we decided to move to White Mountain Pack. We want to keep them safe and now we might have directed them towards danger. “Anyone that can’t fight, shift back to Human form and get into the SUVs. It will be cramped, but it is the safest way.” Inti orders through the mind-link and one after the other Wolf shifts back to Human form, getting into a SUV as fast as they can. Ronion keeps running ahead of the convoy with six Warriors and we know what will happen the second we come face to face with our enemies, let's just hope they didn’t think that far ahead. Griffin keeps running at the rear of the convoy, even though he would love nothing more than to be at the front. He knows that everyone depends on us to keep the back of the convoy safe or he might have made a run for it. No one says a word, we are to focused on what happens around us and we know it the moment we need to get into action. We all rush forward, not planning on giving up easily and Griffin has gotten his jaws on the first Wolf of the night. Ronion is ripping a Lycan apart and Herold is toying with a Lycan with two Warriors. Lycans might be stronger and faster than a Wolf, but against three Wolves they are defenseless and it doesn’t take long before he crumbles at Herold’s feet. I can hear howls of pain from some of our Pack-members, but Griffin doesn’t allow it to distract us and slowly we take down a few more Wolves. I haven’t felt a bond snap yet, so the injuries might not be that bad or they are just holding on to their lives to keep our hopes up. Ronion howls in victory as Herold slices the throat of a Wolf and I finally get the chance to look around me, but from the looks of it we didn’t lose anyone. There are quite a few injured, but nothing too serious and after we placed them on the backs of our Pack-members, we head towards the convoy. I hope they have reached our next stop safely and that we don’t run into any more surprises. “Inti, we need to take a look at the map and see if we could run into more of these traps.” Herold says over our private mind-link and I know what my first order of business will be when we get to our stop. “Jocelyn is already on it, she was the one that figured this one out.” Inti responds and Griffin perks up at the mention of her name. How the hell was she able to see the difference between Wolves and Lycans? She was in Human form and inside the SUV, that is nearly impossible. Only an Alpha, Beta or Gamma are able to do that and the Gamma has to come from a very strong bloodline, there is more to Jocelyn than meets the eye. Maybe I should take some time today to find out a bit more about Jocelyn, but first we need to catch up to the convoy and tend to our wounded.
