Harvest Moon: Bound to My Four Stepbrothers

Chapter 397

Kaiden’s P.O.V. Hearing Anna and Hunter argue on whether women can fight as good as a male, I have to refrain myself from laughing out loud. Anna believes it is possible, Hunter disagrees wholeheartedly and I don’t know which side to choose. And I am glad that I kept my mouth shut as I see Aziza’s fist connect with Ragnar’s face, damn that woman throws a mean punch. Aziza walks over to him as he sits up against the wall and I want to shout “Watch out” as I see him brace himself. However I don’t get the chance, but then again she didn’t need me to warn her and I have to stifle a smile as she steps aside. I pull Anna behind me because I know that Donny won’t give up that easily and she peaks around me to watch them. Not only does Aziza make a fool of Ragnar, she also puts Hunter in his place as Donny slams in to him. Luckily Donny knows when to back down and soon everything goes back to normal. Chase’s P.O.V. Rosa is standing safely behind Gunnar when Ragnar and Hunter collide and I have to give credit to Aziza for holding her own against a Lycan with Ragnar’s reputation. Anna and Rosa help us out in the Archive by putting the papers in their rightful place and slowly we make our way through the last of the papers that are scattered on the floor. “Did he toss it in from the doorway?” I hear Rosa mumble and then I remember Aziza saying that it looked as if he tossed the files in to the room. As I think on both their remarks I realize that he had been even a bit smarter. “No, Rosa. He took multiple files, mixed those and then he tossed it in to the room from the doorway.” I say as I look at the remainder of the papers and I know that Aziza was correct. Something else is buried within these papers and I hope we will be able to put the puzzle pieces together. I hope that what ever we find, it will have a happy ending unlike so many other things in this Pack.Aziza’s P.O.V. Chase is right, this is to organized to be a coincidence and I grab the next paper of my lap. I know I have something when I see the name Mahyna somewhere in the middle of the text. It is a report from the Pack-doctor stating that the girl has panic attacks almost every day and sometimes more than once a day. She told him she sees a man carrying a body and throwing it in to the canyon. He describes that the way she was talking it sounded as if it was something she witnessed, but he also knew that she was a child and children tend to have a vivid imagination according to his notes. The date on the report is from two days before she and her Father left the Pack and I wonder if somehow the events are connected. I hold the paper in front of Hunter and I feel him stiffen as he reads through the report. “What does that mean, Aziza?” Anna asks and I see that she is looking of Hunter’s shoulder at the paper. Quickly I tell Anna and Rosa what we found so far on this Family, but that we still don’t have all the pieces to the puzzle. Quietly we continue the search and I wonder if this will be all the information we can find. If that is the case then I will turn it over to Ynanna to get the answers from Roger himself and I know that she will get those answers out of him. I put the paper in the file as I link Ragnar and Gunnar to give them the information we found. Ragnar lets me know that they are with the Pack-doctor and that the guy looks very anxious and jumpy. “Maybe if you smile sweetly, he will feel more at ease.” I reply teasingly and I actually laugh out loud at Gunnar’s response “Picture that in your head and you know it will fail.” Rosa asks what is so funny and I tell the others of my conversation with Ragnar and Gunnar. Kaiden looks as if he sees the most horrifying image in his head and Anna asks him what is going on. “I tried to picture Ragnar with a sweet smile on his face. It gave me the creeps.” Sending all of us in to a fit of laughter and it talks a while before we are able to get back to work.By the time it is lunchtime we have cleared most of the papers from the floor and Anna and Rosa are making piles of the last papers, before we head out to grab some lunch Ragnar’s P.O.V. Gunnar and I stroll in to the Pack-doctor’s office and we both can see that he in not comfortable with the fact that Gunnar is blocking the exit. “Doc, we have a few questions for you and I suggest that you answer me honestly. If not, then I have no other choice than to turn you over to him.” I say as I point at Gunnar over my shoulder. He pales at my words and I hear Gunnar chuckle in our mind-link, while looks at the man with a devilish grin on his face. I sit down in the chair in front of his desk and you don’t need to be a genius to see that the man is very uncomfortable. “Tell us about Roger’s chosen Mates and with that I mean tell us everything. From your examinations, your crimes against them and their deaths.” I say and my tone lets him know that I am not kidding. He is fidgeting with his pen, keeping his eyes on his desk and I give him time to decide how to start telling us what he knows. If our hunch on this guy are correct then I can understand his reluctance in telling us anything. As I am waiting for him to start talking, Aziza links us to inform us of a new piece of information she found and I wonder what might have happened back then. Once he starts talking a waterfall of words pour out of him and it is as if a dam broke down. He keeps talking and talking as Gunnar and I have to control our Lycans and I know I will have a hard time explaining this to anyone. Once he is done talking about Meara and the others, I ask him about Mahyna and her panic attacks and this time he starts shaking his head. Gunnar growls at him and he looks terrified at me before he starts talking. “Her Father came to me with Roger one day, they told me about her attacks and I told them I had to talk with her to be able to tell them what was happening with her. Roger was reluctant at first, but I told him that he knew I could keep a secret and after that he told Benton to bring her in. I talked with her for a few hours and I knew that what she described had actually happened, but I never said that to Roger or Benton. I stated in my report that she just had a vivid imagination, but I think it spooked Benton for some reason and two days later they vanished. I don’t know what happened or where they went.” I believe that he is telling the truth, but I lock him in the dungeons none the less. That is where he belongs for what he did to Meara and the others, he is no better than Roger and I will bring him to justice for it.
