Harvest Moon: Bound to My Four Stepbrothers

Chapter 14 Jax

Jax’s P.O.V. When Brent called to let us know that Dad and Aspen would join us at the party after they had dinner at the Pack-house, we were surprised to say the least. This was so unlike Dad and we all wondered why he didn’t come home straight away. Martha overheard our conversation and said “Because the last thing on his mind right now are his Pups. Get used to it, it will take a few years before they can control themselves around each other.” “Martha, that is information I could have done without.” Justin had yelled and the rest of us had agreed with him. She had looked at him with a smile on her face and said, “Better remember to knock on his office door and actually wait for him to respond from now on.” We had all growled at her words, but I for one decided to remember this from now on and not barge into his office directly after knocking. I don’t think I want to walk in on my Dad and his Mate going at it on his desk and a shiver runs down my spine. “What are you thinking, Jax?” Jayce asks and when I tell them were my mind went, they all shivered at the thought of finding Dad in a compromising situation with his Mate. “Thanks for that, Jax. Now I will not be able to look Dad in the eyes tonight.” Jason mumbles and we all burst out in laughter. Dad always tells us that we were a handful growing up and that we embarrassed him and Mom on more than one occasion. After dinner, the four of us head up the stairs to take a shower and get changed into our suits. As I stand under the clattering water my mind wanders towards tonight. One part of me looks forward to tonight, because we get to meet Dad’s second chance Mate. The other part wishes we could skip tonight, because every woman that was attending tonight has already been ruled out as one of our Mates. The only reason they come is to see if we have finally given up on finding our fated Mates, but they are just wasting their time. We know the value of our fated Mates and we will never settle for anything less. Brick agrees with me on this and I know that my Brother’s Lycans are on the same page. None of us will settle for anything other than our fated Mate, I don’t believe any of us has ever thought about giving up the search and I know we never will. Martha links us as soon as the first guests arrive and we know it is time to put up a performance once again. This time the King is overseas, in search of his Mate and we are here to keep an eye on the Palace. Dad hates that he has to hide the fact that he is the King, but I think with his second chance Mate he is glad that no one knows who he really is. Even though we have discussed making it public that we are the Royal Family. I meet my Brothers at the top of the stairs and we all sigh before we head down to the guests, hoping that tonight the females will behave themselves a little. I groan as I see my latest nightmare called Macy, she doesn’t seem to take a hint and I have been pretty blunt with her. Jayce chuckles as he hears me groan, that is until his eyes land on the She-wolf next to Macy. His latest nightmare named Suzy and she is as thick headed as Macy. Jason and Justin are the lucky ones tonight, they don’t have to worry about a female following them around. At least not yet, but the night is still young and who knows what could happen. Macy and Suzy try to get our attention, but Jason and Justin block their way as they start arguing about their most favorite subject; taking a chosen Mate. “Justin, I don’t understand why anyone would want a chosen Mate. Well, maybe if your fated Mate died and after decades you still haven’t found your second chance.” “Jason, some people do it for status or power. I know that I will never take a chosen Mate and I know that you won’t do it, just like Jayce and Jax will never settle for a chosen Mate.” Justin responds to Jason complaining and it gives me and Jayce the opportunity to get out of there. “Thanks for the block, guys.” I tell them and they just chuckle in the mind-link. Jayce and I go our separate ways as soon as we are in the Palace gardens and Brick is starting to act a bit off. The Moon just reached its peak and I know that some will find their Mate, I hope that some of the people we know will be lucky enough to find happiness. I wonder when my Brothers and I will find our Mates, but I know that we will wait as long as it takes. He can’t explain what is going on, he just knows that something is about to happen and I shake my head at him in my mind. My Lycan can act a bit idiotic from time to time, but that is what I like about him. I see a convoy of SUV’s approach and I know that I am about to meet my Father’s Mate, looks like Brick was right. I make my way over to the convoy as Dad gets out of the back and he smiles at the woman he helps out of the SUV. Aspen has dark brown, wavy, shoulder length hair and dark brown eyes, she looks up at Dad as he bends towards the SUV again and I wonder what is going on. A delectable scent hits my nose as I see two feet get out and I am about to growl out the word “Mate” when I see a young girl step away from behind the door. “Fuck, Brick. She is not of age yet; she is too young.” He howls in my head because we both know what this means. We will have to wait until the next Harvest Moon before she is able to find us. I am waiting for her parents to get out of the SUV, but it doesn’t happen and now I am more confused than I was when I saw her. “Jax, I want you to meet my second chance Mate.” Dad says and I smile at his words. “This is Aspen. Aspen, this is Jax. My second Son.” He says as his arm slides around her shoulder. “It is nice to meet you, Jax.” She says with a huge smile on her face. I pull her into a hug and tell her it is good to see my Dad smile again. As I stand up straight again I look into ice blue eyes and I can’t help but smile at her. “Hi, I am Jax and you are?” I ask as I hold my hand out. “This is Hunter, my Daughter.” Aspen says and I quickly look at my Dad. “That is a conversation for tomorrow, Jax. Just know that there is a good explanation.” He says and I nod my head, I know he will not tell me anymore than that. The four of us walk around back when Macy steps in front of me and I growl softly at the female that is blocking my path. “Jax, why didn’t you wait for me?” she asks and Brick rolls his eyes in my head. “Macy, I hate repeating myself. I am not interested in you, never have been and never will be. I will wait for my fated Mate as long as it takes.” I step around her after I am finished speaking and I pull Hunter with me as Dad steps around her other side with Aspen.“Jax, you are kidding, right?” Macy asks and before I can respond Hunter turns around, stepping in front of Macy. I hear Dad gasp and from the corner of my eyes I see Aspen put her hand over her mouth. “Are you stupid?” Hunter asks. “Jax told you he is not interested, which part of that is so fucking difficult to understand. Stay the fuck away from my Brother or you will meet the underside of my boot, Bitch.” She turns to me with a wicked smile on her face and interlinks our arms as she pulls me with her. As soon as Dad knows for sure that Macy can’t hear us, he whispers, “Hunter, I told you to mind your words. Even though she deserved them.” “Thanks for the save back there, Little One.” I say as I pull her closer to me and Brick pushes forward a bit, making me kiss the top of her head. “Yeah, right now you like me. Just give it a week, than you will start to look for a place to bury me.” Dad starts laughing as I look dumbfounded at the young girl in my arms, Aspen shakes her head as she is giggling and I have this feeling that she might be right about that.
