Aspen’s P.O.V. It has been two weeks since I told Daniel we were going to have another Pup and I can no longer hide my increased appetite. When Daniel and Gabe finally figured out I was the reason they had to refill their plate more often they had just looked at me and both had shaken their heads. Brent on the other hand thought it was hilarious and so did our Pups, but it showed us we had to tell everyone there would be an addition to the Royal family. The announcement was made four days ago at dinner in the main dining room. Chloe or someone else from my protection detail has been on my tail ever since and my protection detail made it clear I was not allowed to go anywhere without them. Chloe had to explain to me and Daniel that some of the females around the Palace had given me murderous looks after the announcement. So far no one has made any remarks, but Chloe is afraid it might get worse the moment I start showing. A roar from Daniel’s office makes me jump out of my seat and I quickly glance at Chloe, she nods her head for me to proceed towards his office. Hunter and Daniel are in a staring contest and I already know who is going to win. No, not our King. My Daughter will win as she is very intimidating when she is standing like that and I ask Brent why they are at odds with each other. Hunter doesn’t break eye-contact as she says, “He doesn’t want you to know how serious the situation is getting.” I look from my Daughter to my Mate and Daniel tells her that stress is not good for me in my condition, before I can blink my eyes Hunter has punched Daniel in the face. He staggers back as he looks at her in shock, “Hunter Madison, have lost your mind.” He growls at her as Jayce is trying to calm Hunter down, but she shoves him to the side and as she slowly stands up straight I see a look in her eyes that doesn’t predict much good. “You don’t tell Mom about something that involves her and her unborn Pup, because of her delicate situation.” Hunter says and her voice is laced with suppressed anger. Daniel slowly nods his head at her statement and I want to kick my Mate’s ass for his thoughtlessness.“But you don’t have a problem with adding that stress onto me, Dad?” She asks before she storms out of his office, slamming the door closed behind her and I step in front of the door to keep anyone from leaving. I link Emma and Ella to go and find her. Daniel is staring at the door, but the look in his eyes tells me that he isn’t seeing anything and slowly the reality sinks in. He slumps down in his chair as tears start to form in his eyes, “I screwed up, didn’t I?” he asks no one in particular. Everyone else in the room has the same look on their face and I get this feeling that no one thought of Hunter’s pregnancy when they decided to include her into this conversation. But Hunter is right, this concerns me and they had no right to keep it from me. “Don’t expect to see me or Hunter for the rest of the day and prepare yourselves for a sleepless night as we might not return at all today.” I say before I walk out of Daniel’s office and go in search of my Daughter. Hunter’s P.O.V. For the past two weeks I have been living on cloud nine, even though Chloe’s words have me a little worried about Mom. I have not been able to find out anything, because one of my Mates is with me at all times and they know exactly how to distract me. I have had alone time with all of them and we have spend every night together, making sure I fall asleep completely exhausted. Justice knows exactly how to get their attention and that has gotten us into a tight spot a few times, but my horny Lycan doesn’t give a rodent’s behind. So when Dad had called us to his office I was not prepared for what he told me and when I had asked him what Mom said about it his answer had made me lose my shit. As I stormed out of his office I asked myself if my Mates had known any of it and if I am truthful with myself I think they knew. Emma and Ella are waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs and they each grab an arm as they start walking towards the front door, “Mom and Dad are gone for a few days, so you are coming with us.” Emma answers my unasked question. Within ten minutes Mom walks in the door and wraps her arms around me as I let my bottled up tears fall. Ella has prepared some refreshments and snacks by the time I have calmed down, Mom asks me to tell them what I had been told by Dad and my Mates. “Turns out that there is an old Law that states that a female can challenge the worth of the Queen if she is not pregnant within three years of mating with the King. Challenging the Queen’s worth basically means that if the Queen is not pregnant at the time of the challenge the King has to reject her. Elder Matthew has looked at everything there is on this Law and nowhere does it state it becomes voided if there are Pups from his first Mate. Meaning that someone could have challenged your worth to the Kingdom without being pregnant, Dad would have had no other choice but to reject you.” Emma and Ella are fuming with anger and Mom looks as if I have grown a second head. We sit there in silence as we finish our drinks and snacks, each of us in a world of our own. Justice tells me to start looking in the digital library as it has had hidden parts of Laws and I smile as I realize that I have to do some digging of my own. I ask Emma to get me her laptop and I ask Mom why no one has come knocking on the door yet. My jaw drops as she tells us what she had said before she had walked out of Dad’s office and Ella is in stitches. Mom has to repeat herself for Emma’s sake and soon the four of us were rolling in the aisles. Once we have calmed down a bit I take the laptop from Emma and Mom looks at the screen with me, while Emma and Ella are looking at Ella’s laptop. It is rather easy to find the Law Dad mentioned and everything we read is what we already are aware of, but I want to find the hidden parts of this Law. “Got it.” Emma yells and she tells me how to find the file she has found. Silently the four of us start reading through pages on this Law called Queen Unworthy and a link from Daphne pulls my attention away from it. Martha had send her and Jack over with dinner for the four of us, we keep reading while eating our dinner and by the time we are done it is almost midnight. “Okay, girls, lets get some sleep. Those letters are standing to dance the tango in front of my eyes.” Mom mumbles and I see Emma and Ella yawn as I look up from the laptop. “We have read through everything and I could use a good night’s rest.” Mom and I each take a guest room as Emma and Ella walk into their own rooms.Mom softly calling my name wakes me up in the morning and even though I thought I would be unable to sleep without my Mates I had slept like a baby. We all get ready to attend breakfast in the main dining room and there will be hell to pay for the bitch that is after Dad. A lot of chatter is coming from the main dining room and I think I have found the female that is after Dad, but nobody has noticed us yet. Justice starts growling in my head as the female says that she hopes Mom will miscarriage, because than she will take over as Queen. “Even if you were the last She-wolf alive I wouldn’t touch you with a barge pole.” Dad growls at here and Mom and I have to stifle a smile as the female’s face pales. Dad and my Mates look as if they have pulled an all-nighter and I tell Mom through the mind-link it is time to put someone in her place. To my surprise I see that every Elder is present in the main dining room and I link Daphne and Jack to make sure none of them leave before I have had my say. Dad’s chair falls to the floor with a loud bang as he jumps up to wrap Mom up in his arms and a second later I am surrounded by my Mates. Through the mind-link I ask my Mates to take a step back and I know they think it because of them. I see a huge smirk on the face of a female I have never seen before, but I know she is the one after Mom’s Mate and I will be ruthless in cutting her down. “Elder Matthew, yesterday I was told that someone pointed out a Law called Queen Unworthy and this morning I heard someone say she hopes the our Queen will miscarriage. Is it safe for me to assume that that came from the mouth of one and the same person?” I ask and Elder Matthew nods his head. I turn my eyes on the female and as I look into her eyes I say, “Whoever gave you that information forgot to tell you that as long as I am breathing I will find every answer I want or need. In our digital library I have found documents that go with that Law and they are additions to that Law. You can challenge the Queen if she is the King’s chosen Mate, whether there are already Pups from a first Mate or not. However, you can NOT challenge the Queen if she is the King’s fated Mate and seeing the fact that my Mother is the King’s second chance Mate you can NOT challenge her. In short, you got screwed. Mom, will you do the honors?” I ask as Mom steps next to me and she banishes the female from Palace grounds for the rest of her life.
