Alpha Amarath

Chapter 725 Ultimate Price

Jocelyn’s p.o.v. I am not afraid of Alpha Inti using an Alpha order on me, they don’t work on me and they probably never will. The thing I fear is that he might tell us to find our own way to White Mountain Pack. It surprises me that he finally gives in to my demand and lies down on a sleeping bag to get some rest, not that he is going down quietly. Faye starts to stir and I pick her up to get her fed, sitting down on the sleeping bag next to Gamma Joseph. Indigo hands me a bottle and sits down beside me carefully, making sure that she doesn’t wake up Jenna. Some of the Pups sit down in front of us and for a little while it is completely silent in the clearing, almost as if we are not in the middle of a war. “Weren’t you afraid that Alpha Inti might give you an Alpha order?” One of the Pups asks. “No, I wasn’t. Either your Alpha forgot the most valuable lesson he was ever taught or someone forgot to teach him this valuable lesson.” I answer and I know that everyone is waiting for me to continue, but my attention gets drawn back to Faye. I put the bottle down beside me and place Faye against my shoulder, ready to let her burp. “A Gamma isn’t affected by an Alpha order, unless he or she wasn’t born of a Gamma bloodline. My Father couldn’t ignore an Alpha order, because he was born a Delta. My Mother is the Daughter of two Gammas and my Grandparents both came from a very strong and long Gamma bloodline. My Brother took after my Father and I take after my Mother, thank the Goddess.” I explain, but I can see that this doesn’t make sense to any of them and after getting more comfortable I continue with my explanation. “A Gamma’s main duty is to the Pack and the Luna and there for an Alpha order can’t affect them, because a Gamma is sworn to protect the Luna, even from her own Mate.” I state and I know that Alpha Inti and Gamma Joseph have heard every word, even though their eyes are closed. I listen to the Pups that are sitting on the pillows and blankets, some are listening to stories and others have a more active task. I slowly lower myself onto the sleeping bag and place Faye on my chest, while Indigo places herself between Jenna and Alpha Inti. I hear the breathing of both males even out and I smile when they start snoring softly at the same time. “Let’s hope that they will keep the volume down on their snoring.” Indigo says and we both giggle softly.Someone is tapping my foot, I lift my head to see Joey on his hunches and he gestures for me to come with him. Indigo gets up with me and we follow him towards the makeshift infirmary. “Jocelyn, we might have a small challenge.” Doc says and I see he has only one patient left in the makeshift infirmary. He shows me the injury of the Warrior, by lifting the sheet that is covering him and I know that this is the beginning of the end. “Does he have a Mate?” I whisper the question and Doc shakes his head, at least that is a plus. I hand Faye over to Indigo and take a closer look at the Warrior’s wound. My best guess is that a Lycan took a good swing at him and if he managed to hit an organ, this will be over sooner than later. After placing the sheet back, I get up to leave the makeshift infirmary and walk back to wake up Alpha Inti. Indigo follows me without saying a word, we both have seen enough wounds over the years to know what his condition is. “Alpha, you need to wake up.” I say as I push against his shoulder. I hate to wake him, but I don’t have another choice. He slowly opens his eyes, but he shoots up straight the moment he sees my face. I know it isn’t difficult to see in my facial expression that I am the bearer of bad news. I lead him towards Doc and the dying Warrior, no one says a word as we walk past them and I know that Beta Herold and Gamma Joseph are right behind us. “He is dying.” I say as I step aside and walk around the bed the Warrior is lying on. I pull the sheet away and I hear all three of them gasp. I lean over the body and get a look at his wound from a different angel. I use my hands to pull the wound open to get a better look and I see a lot of blood around his stomach and organs, he is slowly bleeding to death from internal wounds. “Doc, give me something to end this quickly. He has suffered enough already and I will not allow him to suffer any longer.” I say as I point at the blood. Doc is cussing and swearing as he walks away and I know it wasn’t this bad when he called me over, but then again you can’t always see everything. I quickly explain to Alpha Inti what is wrong with his Pack-member and I know he is going to prepare himself to lose another Pack-member to this war, he will feel this loss in a way none of us can ever feel it. Except for his Mate, an Alpha’s Mate will feel the loss of a Pack-member in the same way an Alpha does. His friends follow him back to the place where they just came from and he lies down again to brace himself, to deal with the bond breaking between him and the Warrior. Jenna crawls onto his chest and wraps her arms around his neck, as she places her head on his chest. Once everyone is sitting, I walk back inside and take the syringe from Doc’s hand. I push him towards the exit and wait until he has left, before I turn towards the male on the bed. “Thank you.” He whispers and I don’t waste any time in putting him out of his misery. Erylis pushes forward, howling in sorrow to pay respects to a male that risked his life for all of us and in the end he paid the price for his heroism.
