Jayce’s P.O.V. Alpha Gary just smiles at her as he turns to Mom and says, “You have a very beautiful Daughter, but I don’t see a resemblance with you or her Father. Allow me to make a proposal that will benefit her, with her past and the background of her Father she will get rejected by her fated Mate. I will take her as my chosen Mate on the day she turns eighteen and I will make sure she never embarrasses you again, my Queen.” The entire room is silent and my Brothers and I have trouble controlling our anger, but help comes out of an unexpected corner. “Alpha Gary, I will not allow you to insult my family. I demand you apologize to my Niece and her Daughter or suffer the consequences.” A voice booms through the room and I see the blood drain from Alpha Gary’s face. I turn my head to Alpha Drake, Alpha of the largest, strongest and most powerful Lycan Pack out there and I recognize the look of restrained anger on his face. It is the same face I have sometimes looked in to when I managed to piss off Hunter. Alpha Drake steps next to Mom and I see that she remembers seeing him before, but I also see confusion on her face. Hunter’s story pops into my head and Colt connects the dots for me, “Mom, your Father was his younger Brother.” I tell her through the mind-link. I see a worried look on her face as her eyes scan the room, but soon the look disappears and I can see she is breathing again. “Alpha Gary, if my Mate decides to hold my Father’s actions against me then he doesn’t deserve me, but let me make one thing very clear to you.” Hunter says as she steps in front of him. “I am not an embarrassment to my parents, I do not need to be kept away from the world and I sure as hell will never become your Mate.” She says menacingly. “Arthur, Gunter. Put this poor excuse of a Werewolf in a cell. I will deal with him later.” She growls and in seconds Alpha Gary is gone from the room. I pull her into my arms to calm her down and she buries her face into my chest as her arms glide around me. Claire growls at her actions and Mom is the first to react, “Is there a problem, young lady.” “Your Majesty, your Daughter has no idea who she just pissed off. I suggest she releases my Father and accepts his proposal, because she will never get anything better. If she thinks that she can get someone like Prince Jayce she is mistaking, a man like Prince Jayce is only suited for a female like me.” She says with a fake smile on her face. “Claire, do you have any idea who I am?” Alpha Drake asks and she tells him that she is very aware of who he is, but that it doesn’t give him the right to lie. “Claire, I didn’t lie. The Queen is the Daughter of my younger Brother, Thomas, which makes her my Niece and that makes Princess Hunter also my Niece.You just lost the alliance your Father worked so hard for to get and my Pack is being informed that your Pack will be held accountable for the insults you and your Father have spoken to our Queen and Princess.” He growls and his men are quick to escort Claire and the rest of the Pack out. Martha takes that as her que to inform us of the snacks she put out on the tables and that soon some Omegas will be coming around with warm snacks. Dad asks us through the mind-link to join him, Mom and Alpha Drake in his office and to take Hunter with us. I place my hand on her lower back as I guide her out of the living-room, but it is as if she is deep in thought and doesn’t register where we are going. Hunter’s P.O.V. Justice is going berserk in my head, she is out for blood and wants to head down to the cells to rip that piece of shit to shreds. Since the moment his eyes landed on my chest and I saw the bulge in his pants growing, she has been roaring and howling. I am still trying to figure out where I found the calm to ask Gunter and Arthur to take him to a cell, but I can’t find the answer because there is so much running through my mind. I can’t make head or tails out of it and I have a feeling that my body is about to shut down. “Jayce, I don’t feel so good…” and that is when my world goes black. Jayce’s P.O.V. I catch her before she can fall and lift her in my arms bridal-style, while I link our Doctor to get to the King’s office. Jax holds the door open and I see the worry in his eyes as I walk past him. Mom guides me to a couch as Dad calls out to Pops to get his ass in here, Alpha Drake is standing in front of a window and he keeps his eyes on Hunter as I lay her down where Mom tells me to. Doc examens her, but can’t find anything wrong with her. “She will wake up as soon as her mind is at ease.” Alpha Drake says and we all look up at him. “Aspen, your Father is the same. He could make heads or tails out of things none of us could, but if there was to much to process he would shut down, so to speak. I doubt she has had the time to process what happened yesterday, let alone what happened with Gary and Claire and on top of that I inform you that we are related. Just give her some time, just let her get some rest.” Mom gets up from her position next to Hunter and walks over to Alpha Drake, “Thank you for explaining, Uncle Drake.” She says as she walks into his open arms. “Your welcome, my Queen.” Is his response. As we wait for Hunter to regain consciousness Drake tells Aspen that her Mother had taken her and left in the middle of the night, but that her Father never gave up hope in finding her.“What do you mean? Mother told me that he died when I was five and that the Alpha had banished her.” Mom whispers. “No, Aspen. Your Mother really hated Lycans, but your Father in particular. Do you know anything about our Pack-laws?” He asks and we all nod, which makes him smile. “Your Mother never tried to get to know anyone, not your Father, not your Grandparents or any other family member. No matter what we tried and in the end your Father did the only thing he hoped would bring them together. He used the Mate-bond against her and seduced her every single night. When he realize she was pregnant he asked me to keep her under twenty-four seven watch and I did just as he asked. On the day you were born your Father hoped that your Mother would finally turn around, but she didn’t. As a matter of fact she hated him even more and when she saw what you meant to him she took you away from him. She tried to poison your mind against him, but you never believed her. I really thought she had broken your Father when he found out that the two of you were gone, we never stopped searching for you and we never gave up hope. When you walked onto that stage last night my heart stopped beating for a moment. I was afraid to blink my eyes, afraid I was seeing things and when Hunter stepped forward I knew I had finally found the missing pieces of our family. She looks so much like her Grandfather and her great Grandfather, especially when she is pissed off.” He smiles as he looks at Mom. “Alpha Drake, I am not sure what to call you, but there is something I need to tell you.” I say and he turns his head towards me. “When she is pissed off, she also looks exactly like you.” He laughs at my words, but he quickly realizes that I wasn’t kidding. “When you were speaking your mind to Alpha Gary you had the same look Hunter has given me every time I managed to cross a line with her.” I say and he nods his head. “And I can guarantee you that I have seen it enough to know exactly what is looks like.” He asks me what I did to piss her off and I tell him it would be easier to tell him what I didn’t do. Jason tells him that we are all guilty of pissing her off, but that she is also the best thing that could have ever happened to us. “Yes, your Mate tends to have that affect.” He states and the four of us look at him dumbfounded.
