Alpha Amarath

Chapter 253

Kaelan’s P.O.V. Camden and Amand keep asking questions I don’t have an answer to, Princess Taliyah told us that we had been summoned to the Academy. I believe every question we have asked out loud as to why Armas had summoned us, is one only he can answer. Officially we are no longer in the service of the Council, but I know that if Armas requests our assistance Princess Taliyah will not refuse him. The higher the elevator goes, the more annoying my Lycan becomes and I have to ask myself the question if Ynanna might be here again. The second I get out of the elevator I know that she is here and the closer we get to the office, the stronger her smell becomes. “Gentlemen, please sit down. I believe you all remember Ynanna.” Armas says and we all nod our heads as we sit down. “Ynanna, I will leave now. If you need me, just link me and I will be right back.” Armas says as he walks out the door. We all stare at Ynanna and it takes a while before she starts talking “Most people are unaware of the fact that my Lycan, Ivy, has retreated to the back of my head when I was twenty-two.” My eyes widen as I finally understand what is going on, she doesn’t know and I have been furious with her from time to time for not responding as I had expected. “There are only a few that know what happened before she vanished and one of them is Kijani. I don’t remember it, but Armas told me what I had told him. An image of a body being dropped in to a canyon started flashing through my head and by the time it flashed non-stop I collapsed. Kijani found me and brought me to the infirmary, I was unconscious for almost forty-eight hours. After that Ivy only showed herself if I needed her, but other than that she has been in the back of my head. When I went in to the Chamber to interrogate Roger, something similar started to happen. I hear a woman screaming and I see a fist colliding with a face.” She takes a sip of water as I am staring at her. “Armas thinks that Ivy is protecting me from a traumatic event I witnessed as a child. This morning Kijani had to pull me out of the Chamber because it all became to much. Hearing him talk about why he did what he did and the turmoil in my head. After I had calmed down, Kijani asked me something I hadn’t thought about. I have to question Roger about what happened to Amyah and I can’t do that with Kijani in the watch-room. Ivy was the one to provide me with the answer when I asked myself who I could trust enough to ask for help.” She looks at the three of us and I wonder why Ivy chose the three of us, but her next words make my jaw drop.“She didn’t say anything, she just showed me your picture, Kaelan.” Camden and Amand are staring at me and I know that they are waiting on an answer. “I don’t know why she did that, I just know that I can trust her.” Ynanna whispers. Ynanna’s P.O.V. I don’t look at Kaelan as I tell him that Ivy showed me his image as an answer to my question. “Ynanna, what did you feel when we shook hands the other day?” He asks and my eyes widen as I realize that I was not imagining it, he had felt it too. I look at him as I tell him that my skin tingled. “For the past thirty-six years there have been moments that I was furious with you, because I couldn’t understand your behavior. It wasn’t until you said that Ivy has been in hiding for much longer than that, that I realized that you couldn’t have known.” He say gently. I look in to his eyes as I let his words sink in and I know that I have to test what happened the other day. As I put my hand on his arm I see Ivy coming forward and softly I hear her say “Mate” and at that same moment I can smell him. The look on his face tells me that he knows that I finally know the truth and before I can blink my eyes his lips are on mine. His hand is in my neck, pulling me closer to him and then someone clears his throat. My cheeks turn red as Kaelan pulls me against his chest and I welcome the hiding place he gives me. “Damn, Camden. Was that necessary, after thirty-six years I finally get to kiss my Mate and you have to interrupt.” He growls and I hear his friends gasp. I see a twinkle in his eyes and I know that he is partially happy that his friend interrupted us, before things got out of hand. Suddenly his words really sink in and I can’t stop the tears from falling. He has known for so long what I was to him and all he could do was wait for me to catch up, never understanding why I didn’t respond the way I was supposed to. “Shh, it is okay.” He whispers, but I know that it is not. He spent so many years wondering what was wrong with me and I never had a clue. “I am so sorry, Kaelan.” I whisper. “I always hoped she would be there when I met my Mate, but for the past decade or so I feared that I had missed out. I never considered that someone could have known for so many years.” He wraps his arms around me and tells me that Ivy had been there, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to tell without the Full Moon present. “I have watched you, for so many years on the training fields and walking through these corridors, but not once did it occur to me that something was off. I heard people talk about you and the fact that it seemed at times that you had no Wolf or Lycan, but seeing you train I knew that you had one. Maybe if I had had the courage to approach you sooner, we might have figured it out sooner.” He says and a part of me knows that he is right. However the part of me that knows that I missed out on my Mate for so long is winning in this instant. Kaelan’s P.O.V. I mean every word I say, because it is the truth. Camden and Amand are staring at the two of us and I think I understand why the three of us are here. I cup her face with both my hands and look directly in to her eyes as I say “Ivy, we will keep her safe. No matter what we find out, I promise.” For a split second I see Ivy looking back at me and then she is gone again. I feel a change in Ynanna and I ask her what is going on, she tells me that she can no longer smell me. “Don’t worry, Sweetheart. Ivy is not ready to let you deal with whatever it is she is protecting you from.” I say and I know that it is the truth. After a few more minutes I link Armas and ask him to join us again, because we need to tell him what we have uncovered. Ynanna is surprised to see him walking in to the office and I tell her that I asked him to come back. I tell Armas about what happened and that I actually caught a glimpse of Ivy, before she retreated once again. “Well, at least now we understand why she wanted you there during the interrogation.” Armas replies. We discuss how to proceed on me and Ynanna being Mates and Ynanna says that she wants me to stay close, because Ivy trusts me. “I want to start building on our bond, even if I can’t feel it completely yet. You and your Lycan have waited long enough.” She says as her head rests on my chest. My Lycan pushes forward and whispers in her ear “My name is Dash.” She immediately looks up at him and a bright smile appears on her face as she says “Hello, Dash.” My Lycan is jumping up and down and I think she can tell as she starts to giggle.
