Theresa, the Doomsday Queen
Professor K's clouded eyes softened as he watched his dog gobbling down its meal. "Old man, you finally did something right… even if it's for your dog's sake," Theresa said. "You were right," Professor K replied, actually agreeing with her for once. He was no longer the stubborn mule he once was. Instead, he was in complete agreement with Theresa. His shift in perspective didn't come from the unwavering determination these people had shown while fighting zombies. It wasn't their fearlessness in the face of death that changed him. He was a mad scientist. He had already been placing his life on the line in his pursuit of a better future. So, none of that had changed him. Instead, he had a change of heart when his dog jumped off the helicopter just to run toward him after Theresa left that day. His dog had thrown itself into his arms regardless of the sea of people in its way. In that instant, he finally understood why these people refused to run. He could finally empathize with their fight against the rise of the zombie civilization. He finally knew what it was like to be in their shoes. So, he chose to help them. "I was mistaken. The Starborn Order was wrong. Zombies aren't an evolved form of humanity." "It's about d*mned time you saw the light," Theresa replied with a smirk. "Still, you don't really have anywhere else to go now anyway. I've wiped the Starborn Order off the map." Professor K's lips curled into a mysterious smile. "Then, how do you plan to handle the Starborn Order's legacy?" Theresa's eyes lit up instantly. The Starborn Order's legacy. He was right! How could she have forgotten about that? The Starborn Order might have been a group of lunatics, but they knew more than anyone else when it came to zombies. In fact, the researchers there were also the cream of the crop. As a result, they had managed to develop Ability Detectors and Zombie Mobility Inhibitors. She even had a nasty firsthand experience when it came to their Ability-Supressing Inhibitors. Plus, how could she forget about their Ability Recovery Drugs? The Starborn Order's legacy was a freaking treasure trove. Those scientists might be mad, but they definitely were geniuses in their own right. "There's just one big problem. I destroyed both their headquarters," Theresa said. She winced and added, "The Starborn Order's Eisgrael branch is somewhere at the bottom of the ocean by now. The one down south is gone, too." Professor K arched a brow at her. "Have you forgotten that the Starborn Order has countless branches across the globe? You can get plenty of data and resources there." His words were like a guiding light to her problem. How could she have forgotten about that? She might have taken out their leaders and razed their academies, their main research institutes, and their manufacturing plants to the ground. However, the Starborn Order still had camps scattered worldwide. She had no idea whether the camps were still functional, but they definitely held an enormous amount of data she could use. "You know where the Starborn Order's branches are?" she inquired, her eyes bright. "I don't, but you brought someone who does," Professor K replied with a smile. Then, he called for his dog, who was just about done with its treat. He continued, "Ms. Hall, I did not expect you to eliminate the Starborn Order so swiftly. I have a feeling that you will be ushering in a new era." "Of course," Theresa said, waving him off. Once he was gone, she immediately ordered her subordinates to summon Herold over. Herold hurried to her office in 30 minutes. "What's wrong, Terry?" "Uncle Herold, I have a task for you." "What is it?" "I want you to gather every remaining member of the Starborn Order from around the world." "You want to kill them?"Theresa's eyes gleamed as she replied solemnly, "No. I want to convert them. I want everything the Starborn Order has left behind." Herold froze before laughing as soon as the implications hit him. "I see what you're aiming for. No problem. I'll try to establish contact with them." Still, there was a high chance that they wouldn't be inviting all of Starborn Order's members to join them. The Starborn Order's researchers might be exceptional, but many of them definitely had several screws loose. Ordinary researchers below A-Rank were still worth keeping. After all, most had never been exposed to the organization's core ideology. S-Rank individuals were definitely going to be sent to the chopping block. Theresa only wanted their resources and their researchers. She had no need for the rot and lunacy that came with it. Theresa returned to managing her territory after handing over Starborn Order's affairs to Herold. Three days later, all three Ark Camps and headquarters had mostly recovered. No one in the camps died from lack of treatment now that they had plenty of emergency pills and pain relief gels to go around. Everyone was recuperating well. The cafeteria meals were packed with all sorts of nutrients for days. The chefs had to work overtime to whip up all sorts of nourishing soups and meals under Theresa's orders. There was protein for days with fresh fruits and vegetables on the side. They even had various supplements ready for consumption. Food and drink were free of charge and supplied 24/7. Still, food was nothing compared to the losses they had all suffered in the war. Everyone in the camps managed to recover quickly with so much support. Soon, people began to return to the front lines to hold the defenses alongside Theresa. So, she led everyone in an expedition to clear out the remaining zombies beyond their defenses. At the same time, she managed to find engineers and professors who specialized in weapons and materials.
