Theresa, the Doomsday Queen
"Stop talking nonsense before I change my mind." Sage grabbed her hand and kept walking forward. "I don't need you to intervene." Theresa swatted his hand away lightly. "Theresa!" Sage's eyes were red in anger. "Those people will be here within half an hour. If any one of them shows up, I will not save you even if you beg me!" Looking at him, Theresa suddenly laughed. Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps came. "What are you doing here?" Herold asked with a cold expression when he saw Sage bringing Theresa out of the room. The moment Sage saw Herold, his expression turned grim. His usual gentleness vanished without the slightest attempt to hide it. "The higher-ups ordered me to take her away." "Nonsense." Herold stared at him coldly. "Why didn't I receive any orders?" Then, he reached out and placed a hand on Theresa's shoulder, ready to take her back. "This is a special order." Sage grabbed her other arm. "Please do not interfere, Two." "What special order? Show it to me!" Herold's expression darkened even more. However, Sage didn't look at him. Instead, his gaze was fixated on Theresa. Just then, a cold mechanical voice sounded above all of their heads. "All decision makers within headquarters, please gather in the conference room." When Herold heard the announcement, he released Theresa's shoulder and exchanged a brief look with her before heading toward the conference room. On the other hand, Sage still didn't let go of Theresa's hand. "Why are you still standing there, Decision Maker Ten?" Sage heard Herold, but his eyes remained fixed on Theresa. He was waiting for her to say something. As long as she nodded, he would take her away even if it cost him everything. "You should hurry and wait to greet my arrival," Theresa said lightly while pushing Sage's hand away. Disappointment flashed across Sage's face when she shook him off. Then, he said coldly, "I won't care for you anymore." After that, he turned and left with Herold. Sage had already given Theresa the only chance she could ever have. It would be the last time he helped her. If she insisted on going crazy, he would not accompany her in the madness. After Herold and Sage left, Theresa was immediately scanned by countless red laser sensors. "Number 7913, please return to your room within ten seconds." Ten minutes later, the conference room table was fully occupied. Except for a few younger faces, most of the people present were elderly. However, they all wore the same expression—cold and indifferent. "Two, it's been a long time," said the man sitting across from Herold. "Four, no… Three, it has been a long time," Herold replied coldly. "You look even younger." "I recently replaced my heart with a mechanical one. I think it's quite good," the man replied with a smile. His words sparked the interest of several others, and they immediately began discussing. "I want a mechanical heart too. Once you get older, the blood flow always feels insufficient." "The previous Three replaced his entire body. I think that was magnificent." "Silicon-based bodies are still lacking. We have better options now," said an elderly man who was sitting in the center. As soon as his words fell, everyone grew visibly excited. "Having a powerful zombie body truly is more responsive than relying on a silicon-based form." "I can't wait to get a new body." Sitting at the far end, Sage frowned as he listened to their conversation. At that moment, the others finally seemed to notice the newly arrived young man. "I guess this must be Ten." "He is so young." "Ten, you haven't modified your body at all, have you?" asked Eight. Sage looked at Eight's wrinkled face and asked, "Why should I modify my body?" The moment he spoke, everyone burst into mocking laughter. Then, Decision Maker One said, "You may leave, Ten. We don't need you here." Sage was dismissed. After he left, the atmosphere in the room grew even more harmonious. Decision Maker One looked at everyone and said, "Today, we are gathered here for an important event. We will finally welcome our rebirth." Everyone's eyes lit up at his words. "Bring her up!" "I can't wait to see what kind of ruler we have chosen."
