Grief, Betrayals, and a Core of Blaze
Natalie nodded. "Yes. At this moment, I’m afraid many people can’t sleep." Natalie poured herself another glass of water. Beth looked at her, thought for a moment, and then said, "Natalie, does your studio really need people? I know you’re trying to help my son and me, but I’m already endlessly grateful that you’re taking my son as your apprentice. If I let you take on another expense for no reason, I’d be truly shameless. As long as Holt is okay, I can do any kind of work. I can go out and find a job." Natalie looked at Beth’s sincere eyes and truly felt that people are multifaceted. On the ship, Beth had been very calculating. But now, there wasn’t a trace of calculation in her eyes, only honesty. She much preferred Beth this way. "My studio does, in fact, need a cleaner. But if you have other options, that’s fine too. I can just find someone else." When Beth heard she genuinely needed a cleaner, she breathed a sigh of relief. "No, no, no! I can do the cleaning. Really. I’m an uneducated, crude person. I was just afraid you were spending extra money to take care of us. Since you actually have the need, I can do it. I promise I’ll do a good job." Natalie smiled and nodded. "Okay. It’s getting late, you should go rest. Holt’s condition isn’t good, and he needs a lot of energy and care." Hearing her say this, Beth nodded. "Okay, I’ll go rest now. You should rest early too, Natalie. They will be fine." "I know. I’m just a little worried. But you’re right, I should have faith in them. Let's go rest together then." Natalie stood up first, and Beth followed her to her own room. Meanwhile, Jensen had no idea if Hansel had relayed his message to Natalie. With the Stone family’s current power, catching Rachel would be incredibly easy. He just didn't know if this incident would make Natalie remember the good times they once shared. He used to be so lucky and happy. Natalie’s heart and eyes were filled with only him. If he had developed LN-380 sooner and given it to Natalie, would she still have left him so decisively? Jensen stroked the platinum ring on his finger. This was from when Natalie first achieved success with her designs. He had given her a portion of the money, and she had used it to buy a pair of platinum rings. At the time, Natalie had intended to design them herself. But he had said he didn't want her to be too tired—partly to placate her—and said he couldn't wait to have a matching ring with her. Only then did Natalie buy this pair. But it seemed he hadn’t worn it for long. Less than a year later, he found excuses to take it off. Natalie, however, wore hers all the time. When did the ring on Natalie’s finger disappear? Jensen actually couldn't remember. He seemed to recall seeing the ring on Natalie's hand on her birthday this year. When did it vanish? Jensen tried hard to remember, but he couldn't. During that period, he was preoccupied with getting his marriage certificate with Sharon, preoccupied with experiencing the thrill of sneaking around. It seemed that fooling around with Sharon right under Natalie's nose, enjoying that ambiguity, was his proudest accomplishment. Only now, looking back, did Jensen realize what a piece of trash he was. He thought he remembered. When he held the new product launch, when he planned to give Natalie’s credit to Sharon, he seemed to have stopped seeing the ring. Before, Natalie had always urged him to wear it, and he disliked it. Now that Natalie didn't care about him anymore, he wished he could weld this ring to his finger.Jensen felt he was truly pathetic. When Rachel entered, she saw Jensen staring blankly at his finger and couldn't help but frown. "What’s wrong with you? Is your finger uncomfortable?" She wanted to say that if his finger was bothering him, she would have him go to the hospital later. But seeing the appointed time was getting closer, she had to swallow her concern. This was her son, after all. "I…" "Watch your words. Is ‘Natalie’ a name you’re qualified to say? Do you even know your place?" Jensen cut her off, his eyes flashing with impatient rage. He was just trying to think about Natalie, and this old woman had to come and bother him. It was so annoying. He truly hoped this old woman would be finished for good tonight. After speaking, Jensen turned his head away. Being repeatedly snapped at by Jensen, Rachel’s mood soured as well. "Do you have any manners at all? Is that how your mother taught you to speak to your elders?"
