Grief, Betrayals, and a Core of Blaze

Chapter 536 The Old Friend

Natalie understood this logic. She quickly called Waylon and Flynn and relayed Baron’s instructions. Waylon immediately understood Baron's deeper intention, and his satisfaction with his son-in-law grew. After handling all of this, Baron used the excuse that he didn't feel safe staying at the Grand Pavilion and left with Natalie. As for the other Natalie’s shop, it had long been ransacked, and there were no clues left inside; even if there were, the police had taken charge of them. Baron didn't plan to interfere with the other Natalie’s situation, as the police would give her a satisfactory answer. After leaving the Grand Pavilion with Natalie, Baron immediately called Shauna. "Find Jensen’s location and have our people monitor it covertly. As soon as Rachel shows any sign or signal of contacting someone else, intercept it immediately and find out who she is trying to contact." "Understood, Mr. Baron." Shauna hung up the phone efficiently. Natalie looked at him, so composed and in control, and felt very proud. This is her man! "Where are we going now?" Natalie felt that Baron had arranged everything perfectly. Rachel was certainly in a predicament with no way out. Even if the police couldn't stop her, the Stone and Gunn families could certainly force her out, but she didn’t understand what Baron’s next plan was. Baron saw the confused look in Natalie’s eyes and smiled. "I’m taking you to meet an old friend."An old friend? Natalie was a little surprised. She didn't have many friends in Ocean City. For the previous five years, she was basically non-social for Jensen's sake. The one senior she had, Renee, had gone abroad a few years ago. If she hadn't broken up with Jensen, she wasn't sure if she would even be in contact with Renee now. But Renee was already the head of her studio. Was Baron planning to take her to see her senior, Lan? Natalie wondered in her heart but didn't ask again. She followed Baron out of the Grand Pavilion. Seeing her complete trust in him, Baron felt both happy and a little worried. "Honey, no matter who it is, or what they say or do to you in the future, you must be cautious, understand?" "You're not just anyone. You are my husband! The father of my children! And the man I have decided to spend my life with." Natalie’s smile was somewhat open and natural, with a hint of sweetness shimmering in her eyes. Baron’s heart suddenly warmed up. "Aren’t you afraid I might sell you out one day?" "No! If even you had ulterior motives against me, it would mean I’ve been a total failure as a person. The failure of one relationship can be a mutual problem, but if a second relationship also ends in abandonment, then it can only mean I lack the charm to hold onto you." Baron felt a heavy feeling in his heart when Natalie said this. "Honey, you are wonderful, truly. I’m the one who’s afraid of not being good enough for you. Don’t worry. I, Baron, might hold back with everyone else in this life, but with you, I will be absolutely loyal and hold nothing back. If you need it, I can even give you my life." Natalie quickly reached out and covered his mouth. "What would I do with your life? I want you to live well, to accompany me and the children as we grow up. I just want our family of four to be happy and healthy." Baron seized the opportunity to kiss her palm, which made Natalie’s face instantly flush a bit. "We are in public. Stop being so improper." Natalie playfully rolled her eyes at him, then quickly opened the car door and got inside. Seeing her become increasingly shy around him, Baron felt as if he had tasted honey. Did this mean her feelings for him were also deepening? While he couldn't immediately erase Jensen's previous position in Natalie's heart, progress was always a good thing. Baron happily got into the car. The car drove towards a street that was unfamiliar to Natalie. "Where are we going?" "You’ll know when we get there." Baron kept her guessing. Natalie nodded and calmly began to enjoy the night scenery outside. How long had it been since she had so peacefully watched the mundane activities of life? It seemed that ever since she was rescued by Jensen from the Summers family at age eighteen, her eyes had only been on Jensen. For those five years, everything she did was for Jensen. As for herself, she seemed to have lived to please others. Now, watching the street vendors shouting their wares, seeing couples happily eating at the barbecue stalls, and noticing the joy of families of three in the crowd, she felt for the first time that the night view of Ocean City was actually quite beautiful! Baron, seeing her constantly staring outside, thought she hadn't eaten enough for dinner. "Are you hungry? How about we get out and buy something to eat? There's still time before eight o'clock. We could even walk around; I hear the night market here is very lively."
