Grief, Betrayals, and a Core of Blaze

Chapter 515 The Blood Test

Natalie had witnessed Ruby's outbursts toward Waylon before. Flynn quickly added, "That’s right, Mom. Even if Dad has great power, he can’t turn back time. Besides, he’s still at the police station giving a statement. We still don’t know what’s going on with Logan. Mom, let’s go back and rest first." Saying this, Flynn moved to help Ruby up. Ruby evaded him, turning her gaze toward Baron. "Baron, I heard you and the Witch Doctor are good friends?" Baron’s heart sank. What does she mean? Did Mom discover something? "Mom, why do you ask that?" Baron asked back, a bit nervously. Ruby said, "If you are his friend, you must have some exposure to medical matters, right? Could you do a blood test for me?" Hearing Ruby say this, Baron and everyone else were stunned. "Mom, we can go to the hospital for a blood test." "I don’t trust hospitals anymore!" A hint of disgust flashed in Ruby’s eyes. Her daughter was lost at the hands of the medical staff; how could she dare to entrust her own body to a hospital now? Natalie immediately understood what Ruby meant. She looked at Baron."Can you do it?" "I…" Baron felt an impulse to reveal that he was the Witch Doctor, but just as he opened his mouth, Ruby interrupted him. "I know you understand some medical arts, Baron. You are the only person Mom can trust right now. I don't know if it’s psychological, but I feel my physical condition has improved significantly since Rachel left my side. All the stress from these past few days should have caused me to relapse, but I only fainted from emotional distress; I still have self-control. So, I suspect that my depression has been coming and going all these years, possibly due to Rachel’s actions." Ruby explained her health status. Flynn’s expression immediately darkened. "If that's truly the case, then Rachel deserves to die." "Alright, I will do a blood test for Mom first." Baron also realized the seriousness of the situation. If Ruby’s condition had been controlled by Rachel all these years, it was truly terrifying to consider. Natalie’s face was also strained. Ruby, supported by Flynn, walked out of the screening room with Baron. Natalie looked at the distraught Yvonne and quietly said, "Let me help you back to your room to rest. Your wound needs peace and quiet." Yvonne’s eyes were red. She shook her head and said, "Who do you think that masked man is? Did my uncle have enemies before?" "I don’t know either. We’ll have to wait until my father returns to find out."Natalie knew that compared to Rachel and others, the masked man was the biggest enemy in Yvonne’s heart. After all, the masked man approaching Xenon was what ultimately led to his family’s ruin. Natalie sighed and said, "I know you are anxious to find the masked man’s identity, but right now, we can only peel back the layers one by one. Your body needs rest, Yvonne. Revenge is not something that needs to happen instantly. Trust me, whether it's you, me, or the Stone family, we will not forget this grievance." Yvonne’s tears fell uncontrollably. "I just miss my parents so much. I always thought I was an unwanted orphan. I even resented my parents for giving birth to me only to abandon me. It’s only today that I know they were the best parents in the world! Their love for me transcended life and death, yet I don’t even know what they looked like." Yvonne collapsed into Natalie’s arms and cried hysterically. Natalie’s nose also felt tight. "Yes, I don’t know them either. But I believe my father must have photos of them. When he returns, I'll ask him to look. When the weather clears up tomorrow, we’ll go to Uncle Xenon’s grave and tell them you’ve safely returned to the Stone family, so they can rest in peace." Natalie’s words made Yvonne cry even harder, but this time, Natalie did not try to stop her. Yvonne truly needed a good cry after all these years. After Baron took the blood sample from Ruby, she insisted that Flynn go and bring Waylon back. Flynn looked at the time; Waylon had been at the police station for quite a while. He quietly said, "Mom, I can go bring Dad back, but since my brother-in-law and sister are here, please don't let Dad lose face too much." "Get out!"Ruby gave Flynn a sharp glare. Flynn didn’t say anything more. After instructing Baron to take care of Ruby, he left. Ruby didn’t want to disturb Baron either, so she returned to her room alone. She looked at the unfamiliar room and thought about everything she had just seen. Self-reproach rushed over her like a tide, nearly drowning her.
