Grief, Betrayals, and a Core of Blaze

Chapter 427 Baron Doesn’t Do Discounts

Baron couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh; a deadly chill still flickered in his eyes. Jensen had expected to find Natalie, but instead only saw Baron. He glanced instinctively behind Baron; when he didn’t spot Natalie his brow tightened. “Where’s Natalie?” “Was Natalie invited by you too? Mr. Jensen, my wife is already married; don’t try to ruin her reputation.” The moment Baron said that, Jensen’s eyes flashed red. “If Sharon hadn’t deceived me, how could Natalie have become your wife? You’re a loser—what makes you think you deserve Natalie? Baron, be sensible; I’ll give you ten million. Take the money, divorce Natalie, and disappear from her life forever; otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless!” The thought that Natalie had been taken away by Baron infuriated Jensen. If he’d realized the person who started shooting on the boat was Baron, he should have helped take Baron out right then. Once Baron was dead, Natalie would certainly come back to him. When Jensen heard the news that Baron had led people to rescue Natalie, he felt provoked. Why does this upstart son-in-law always steal my thunder? I can save Natalie too, and without the Stone family’s help, can Baron alone rescue her? Baron only had those connections and luck because he married into the Stone family. That should’ve been my victory. He glared at Baron; his words were sharp and without restraint. Baron smiled faintly at him; the smile never reached his eyes. “Mr. Jensen, how about I give you twenty million to never appear in front of my wife again?” Money to silence someone; who hadn’t thought of that? Baron had far more money than Jensen. Jensen hadn’t expected such a bold, insulting demand from this little son-in-law of the Stone family. His temper snapped. “Baron, you’re asking for death!” As he spoke, a dagger slid from Jensen’s sleeve and stabbed straight for Baron’s chest. “Mr. Baron, watch out!” The men cried out when Jensen lunged like a madman; a few of them moved to intervene, but Shauna, who had rushed over, held them back. “Don’t move; Mr. Baron can handle this himself.” Shauna wanted to see Baron teach Jensen a lesson with his own hands. She’d learned about Jensen during her investigation; at first she’d thought he was just a jtrash—now she saw he was not only a cad, but a real bastard. If he truly loved Natalie, why would he have registered a marriage with Sharon? Rumor had it Sharon even became pregnant; he forced her to terminate it and compelled a divorce. A man like that had no right to pursue their madam; did he think she was trash? The men paused, then obediently stepped aside. To Baron, Jensen’s dagger attack was child’s play. He’d wanted to hit Jensen for a long time. Ever since five years ago, when Natalie had begged the Witch Doctor and risked everything to help Jensen, Baron had wanted to beat him. Back then Jensen had been Natalie’s precious one. Now Baron had finally married Natalie, and this man still buzzed around her like a fly, even trying to buy his way out. Who had given him the nerve and the face to act like that? Jensen moved slowly in Baron’s eyes. Baron lifted his foot and drove it hard into Jensen’s stomach. Baron’s legs were long; Jensen’s dagger hadn’t reached him before it was kicked flying. The pain sent Jensen reeling. “Baron, that’s dishonorable!” Gritting his teeth, Jensen got up to fight, only to be met by Baron’s rapid step forward and a punch to the face. “Ah—” Jensen yelled in pain; Baron didn’t give him a moment to recover. His fists rained down, fast, fierce, and precise. Baron knew Jensen’s status; he disliked the man, but he wasn’t about to embarrass the Stone family publicly—after all, he was officially the Stone family’s son-in-law. If Jensen played the victim and dragged them into scandal, it would shame the family and his wife. So Baron aimed his blows at places Jensen could never show off; every punch landed hard and personal, guaranteed to leave an impression that Jensen couldn’t parade around.
