He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 376 The Papers Are Signed

So those words had never been meant for her alone. It was all a lie. "Liars!" Monique let out a bitter, self-mocking laugh. "Mr. Lewis, the divorce agreement is ready." The lawyer had finished drafting the documents. He approached Scott and handed him the papers. Scott scanned them briefly, then took the pen from the lawyer and signed his name without hesitation. He tossed the agreement down at Monique where she lay on the floor. "Sign it. From this moment on, you mean nothing to me. Go be with whoever you want." Scott turned his back on her, his fury barely contained. He had no more words to waste in front of the assembled guests. Lewis Group's dignity had already suffered enough. Monique had brought this on herself. Hearing his final, cold dismissal, Monique stared blankly for a second before scrambling to gather the scattered pages. Her eyes widened as she read the terms. When she saw the clause stating she would "leave the marriage with nothing", her face contorted in rage. "Scott, how dare you do this to me?" she snarled, glaring up at him. "You're throwing me out with nothing? After all these years together? Is this how you repay me? What do you think I am?" Scott ignored her, refusing to even look her way. He turned to the hotel manager standing nearby. "Monique damaged the display screen. Charge her for the full replacement cost. Settle it directly with her." "Understood, Mr. Lewis." The manager nodded, shooting Monique a look of clear displeasure. The screen was a custom, imported piece—extremely expensive. While compensation would have been awkward to demand from the event's host, with Scott's explicit instruction, the hotel was free to pursue it. Charging full price was only fair. Witnessing Scott's series of decisive actions, Monique shed the last pretense of dignity. She began shouting curses. "Scott, you heartless bastard! All these years of marriage—was I not good to you? I sacrificed everything for this family! Did you ever once consider me? "Scott, Carolyn is your daughter! Even if you don't care about me, what about her? She's your child too! "Scott, if you hadn't been so cold and distant, would I have turned to someone else? What happened with Ernesto was a mistake, but you drove me to it! "Scott, I'll prove my innocence with my death right here! I hate you!" Monique's roars grew louder, dissolving into ragged, hysterical sobs."Mom! Stop, please!" Seeing her mother unravel completely, Carolyn rushed over to support the weeping woman. "Dad, how can you be so cruel?" Carolyn pleaded, turning tear-filled eyes to Scott. "Mom made one mistake! Just one! Are you really this heartless? She's managed the household and helped you with the company all these years. And now you cast her out with nothing? Have you no feeling at all?" She bit her lip hard, her eyes red and pleading. "Dad, please... don't do this!" "Hold on." A calm voice cut through the mother and daughter's sobbing. Carolyn sniffed and looked toward the person who had interrupted. It was Chloe. What did she want now? It was indeed Chloe. She raised a hand in a clear "stop" gesture. She closed her eyes and gave a slight, dismissive shake of her head. "The performance. It's quite a show. Do go on. Let's see what other act you have prepared." Chloe opened her eyes, her gaze settling on Carolyn and the woman she shielded. A slow, knowing smile touched her lips. "Monique. Carolyn. Before you set your little traps, did it ever occur to you that karma has a way of circling back?" "Chloe... This is all your fault! You started all of this!" Carolyn pointed a trembling finger, her voice shrill with accusation. "You're the reason I was blacklisted from the industry and lost everything! Now you've made my mother lose everything too! It's all because of you!" "Carolyn, you're mistaken." Chloe shook her head gently, her smile deepening. "You did this to yourselves." "You—" "None of this was ever truly yours to begin with. How can you speak of losing it?" Chloe leaned forward slightly, meeting Carolyn's furious gaze. Her eyebrows arched. "Carolyn? No... I should call you by your real name, shouldn't I? Carolyn Mason?" The moment Chloe spoke the name, a fresh wave of shock rippled through the room. Carolyn—Monique's daughter—stared at Chloe, her face utterly blank, unable to process what she had just heard.
