He Cheated. I Rose.
Ernesto glanced at Monique, who was practically glowing with triumph, and quickly schooled his expression into something more serious. Monique instructed Carolyn to keep the video safe—it was their most valuable asset. They would use it to destroy Chloe's reputation in front of everyone and let the world know what a morally loose woman she truly was. Once Carolyn understood the plan, her excitement grew. All the frustration and humiliation she'd endured while working as a cleaner—the scoldings, the condescension—seemed to fade away. Once she dragged Chloe down from her pedestal, she would personally make her pay. Chloe should have died out there somewhere. She never should have been found. Just wait—this video would be her undoing. ***** Arthur received a frantic call from Jenarth. He rushed to the hotel and swung the door open to find the boy in tears. "Daddy Arthur, please save Mom! She fainted. Am I going to lose her?" Jenarth's sobbing voice gave Arthur pause. Only then did he notice Jennifer lying unconscious on the floor. "Jennifer?" Arthur hurried over and carefully helped her up. "Jennifer, are you all right?" he asked anxiously, calling her name several times, but she remained unresponsive. "Daddy Arthur, Mom said you weren't coming back, that you didn't want us anymore. She's been crying for days, not eating or drinking... and then she just collapsed. "Daddy Arthur, please don't leave us. Please don't ignore us!" Jenarth clutched Arthur's sleeve, pleading desperately. "Mom has never been like this before. She's always loved you so much. When we were overseas, she always told me stories about you. She said she brought me back to find my dad! "Daddy Arthur, is it my fault? Did I make you unhappy? If I did, I can change!" Jenarth hung his head, his voice small and wounded. "If I died, would you stay with Mom then?" Hearing the boy's tearful words, Arthur felt a pang of guilt. Lately, he had thrown all his time and energy into the company. After arranging for the hotel to look after Jennifer and the boy, he hadn't given them much thought—until Jenarth's call about Jennifer fainting. Remembering that Jennifer was pregnant, Arthur lifted her into his arms."Jenarth, come with me. We're going to the hospital." He turned, holding Jennifer, and moved toward the door. "I don't want to go to the hospital." A weak voice murmured. The next moment, Jennifer stirred in his arms. Seeing her awake, Arthur asked with concern, "Jennifer, are you okay?" "Arthur, I'm fine," Jennifer said, her voice frail. As she realized she was being carried, she struggled slightly. "I'm sorry to trouble you. This is my fault." "Jennifer," Arthur said, his tone low and slightly displeased. "Arthur, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have bothered you. Did Jenarth call you?" She lowered her eyes, her voice tinged with hurt. "He kept saying he wanted to call you, to ask if you had abandoned us. I always stopped him. It's all my fault. My health hasn't been good, and I haven't been resting well... That's why I fainted." As she spoke, she bowed her head even lower, burying her face against Arthur's chest. Seeing her so vulnerable, Arthur felt another wave of guilt. Why did he have to face such a choice? Why had he ever gotten involved with Jennifer... Since she was carrying his child, he knew he had to take responsibility. But he lacked the courage to face it all head-on. In his heart, the only figure that lingered was Chloe. Chloe! The thought of her felt like a physical tearing in his chest. He knew he shouldn't keep thinking about her, but his mind refused to obey. "Arthur, could you put me down?" Arthur snapped back to the present and realized he was still holding her. Gently, he set Jennifer down on the sofa. Jenarth immediately rushed into her arms. "Mom, I'm sorry. It's my fault—I called Daddy Arthur. Mom, I don't want to lose you. If it's because of me, I'll give up anything. I just want you, Mom." "You and your little brother are all I'll have from now on, Jenarth. I can't lose you either. Don't say such things again." Jennifer held her son close and looked up at Arthur, her expression calm but resigned. "Arthur, I've thought it over. I shouldn't force something that isn't meant to be. I've decided to take Jenarth and leave."
