He Cheated. I Rose.
Arthur's ex-wife was truly stunning—and that attractive young man beside her wasn't hard on the eyes either. No wonder she had left Arthur behind. If a woman had to choose between a man like Arthur and someone like that handsome companion, she'd probably pick Arthur for his money and the other for his looks. ***** Up in the private lounge overlooking the scene, Eugene observed the lively drama below with an enigmatic smile. Landon, who had also watched the entire exchange, was growing increasingly agitated. The moment Chloe wrapped her arm around the attractive stranger, Landon straightened in his seat, his expression one of alarm. "Holy! Eugene, did you see that? Your competition just showed up. That guy's built, he's handsome, and most importantly—he's young! You can tell he's got stamina just by looking at him." Landon was clearly enjoying stirring the pot. It wasn't often he got a chance to rib Eugene like this. But before his smugness could fully settle, Eugene simply smiled gracefully and remarked, "Well, he does have a nice physique." "Seriously, man! I'm trying to look out for you here. Didn't you hear what Chloe said to her son? That person—Leland, or whatever—they've even slept in the same bed. And you're still complimenting him?" Landon was utterly baffled. Had Eugene lost his mind over this woman? When rivals faced off, there was usually some tension. Even Arthur, that pushover, hadn't been able to hold back his anger. But Eugene didn't seem bothered in the slightest. "To be fair, his physique really is impressive, don't you think?" Eugene raised a brow as he glanced at Landon. Landon was speechless. Eugene smiled faintly, took out his phone, and with elegant fingers quickly pulled up Chloe's contact. Seeing this, Landon sat up straighter, ears practically perked, eager to hear what Eugene would say.Was he finally going to confront her about the other man? After all, his rival was right there. If he didn't act soon, he might lose her for good. Eugene had never been this serious about a woman before. If he got beaten out by someone else, it would be a major blow to his reputation. Eugene made the call. After a brief wait, Chloe's voice came through. "What's up?" Landon held his breath. He was dying to know what Eugene would say next. If he asked who the other man was, how would Chloe respond? To Landon's complete astonishment, Eugene said, "Just wrapped up. Feel like grabbing a late-night bite?" Landon's eyes nearly bulged out of his head. Was Eugene in shock? Had he lost his senses? Shouldn't he at least ask where she was or who she was with—anything to insert himself into the situation? "Sure. We were just looking for a place to hang out. We'll pick a spot and text you the address," Chloe replied simply. "Okay. You choose—it's on me," Eugene said with a smile. "Fine." When the call ended, Landon burst out, "What was that? Some kind of power move?" It made no sense. Eugene had seen Chloe cozying up to that good-looking guy with his own eyes. Not only was he not upset—he was offering to pay for their meal. What a chump! Sure, he was a billionaire and the money meant nothing, but if he really liked this woman, shouldn't he show at least a little possessiveness? Was he just toying with her? But if he was only playing games, he wouldn't have been so consistently attentive, keeping his focus on her all this time. "Wait for me!" Landon called out as Eugene stood to leave, quickly scrambling after him. Twenty minutes later, Landon accompanied Eugene to a bustling food stall in the city's lively downtown district. The stall was divided into several seating areas. They chose a table in the corner, relatively quiet and less crowded. The moment Eugene appeared, Zachary stood and greeted him warmly, "Mr. Rosewood! Mr. Voss." Eugene responded with a soft hum and moved forward. Zachary immediately vacated his seat. Once Eugene sat down, he was positioned right beside Chloe. Landon couldn't help but frown at the scene. Chloe sat at the head of the table. On one side was Zachary, who had shifted to make space for Eugene. On her other side was the attractive stranger. Even more striking was how closely the stranger was leaning against Chloe—they looked intimate, as if sharing private whispers. Landon stole a glance at Eugene. Good grief—how could he stand this? It was a blatant challenge, right in his face.
