He Cheated. I Rose.
For once, Eugene didn't get angry. He just glanced at Landon's phone, looking as calm as ever. A viral video was playing on the screen. After watching it, he smiled. Yeah, he was definitely in a better mood now. "The video's real," Landon said. "Some user posted it. I already checked it out. No wonder Chloe's been so quiet—she had this ready all along! Arthur must be feeling awful." He sighed. Arthur is such a piece of trash—and pairing up with a woman just as lousy? They're a perfect match, truly! "Don't you have anything better to do?" Eugene asked, eyeing Landon's proud face. "Not really. I already sent people to find the guy in the video. Let's drag him out and put him right next to Arthur—see who looks worse. Right?" Landon was pretty pleased with himself. He was sure Eugene would reward him. "Make it bigger. A scandal this good deserves more attention." Landon grinned. "On it." He turned to leave, but his phone rang. He answered—and his face changed. "What did you say?" Landon's voice turned tight. Eugene looked up at him. Landon stood frozen for a second, then blurted out, "Dead?" He was shocked. Hanging up, he turned to Eugene and hesitated before speaking, "Someone beat us to it! "The man in the video with Jennifer... is dead. They found his body. Been dead for a while." Landon frowned. "If I had to guess, he probably got his money from Jennifer and got silenced right after." Eugene's eyes went cold. "Jennifer's not some simple, weak woman. She's more than that. If she loves causing trouble so much, why don't we just..." Landon raised an eyebrow. He didn't need to finish. Eugene knew exactly what he meant. Jennifer kept stirring things up. Making sure she couldn't do it again would solve everything. But Eugene didn't agree with that. His voice stayed calm. "We'll deal with it once Chloe's had her fill of fun." Landon didn't know what to say. ***** Hospital... After the surgery, Arthur took care of everything for the first 24 hours. He stayed by Charles' side, never leaving for a single step. Madilyn stayed at the hospital too. She kept trying to get Arthur to rest, saying she could watch Charles instead. But Arthur refused. "I'm waiting for Grandpa to wake up. I want to be the first person he sees." He wouldn't leave the bedside. Madilyn couldn't change his mind, so she stayed with him. She didn't even check her ringing phone. Finally, the call made its way to the hospital. A doctor came to tell Madilyn that someone needed to talk to her urgently and she should call back right away. Madilyn's mind was completely on Charles. She didn't want to deal with anyone—until a nurse added that the caller said her child missed her badly and she needed to call back now, or it would be bad if she waited. Madilyn's face changed at that. She almost grabbed the nurse and stepped out of the room, worried someone inside might hear. After confirming the nurse was only passing on a message, Madilyn pulled out her phone and saw a dozen missed calls—all from Jennifer. During the surgery, she had put her phone on silent to avoid distractions. That's why she hadn't noticed Jennifer's calls. Jennifer won't leave me alone! This bitchis even more of a handful than Chloe. Madilyn's eyes turned cold. She was done wasting time on Jennifer. As soon as she dealt with Chloe, the next one she'd get rid of would be Jennifer. "What is it?" Madilyn called back. The moment the call connected, she snapped. "Did you see the news?" Jennifer's voice was tight with tension, irritation edging every syllable. "I'm busy. No time for news." "Then check your WhatsApp. I sent it to you." Madilyn paused, didn't hang up, and opened her WhatsApp. She saw the video about Jennifer right away. After reading it, her eyes narrowed. Jennifer is in trouble? Served her damn right! A mean little smirk tugged at her lips—she wanted to mock Jennifer for getting caught up in this mess, but she hadn't gotten what she wanted yet. She couldn't make a wrong move. "Clearly, the video's real. Who is that man? Looking like that—how is that fair to Arthur?" Madilyn put on her act.
