He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 275 The Janitor Heiress

Those two were hatching a scheme to take over Lewis Group lock, stock and barrel. Scott was left with only twenty percent of the company's shares. Monique held ten, and Ernesto had another ten. Monique had her eyes on Scott's remaining shares. If she could get them, she'd become the true power in the company. Not even Chloe with her thirty percent could challenge them then. At that point, they might as well change the name to Mason Group. ***** After the meeting, Chloe walked out of the building. Zachary had been waiting in his flashy sports car. He pulled up right next to her. "I bet Mr. Lewis looked ridiculous in there," he said with a grin. "Did the other shareholders finally start showing you some respect?"Chloe gave a light smile. Her plan had been simple. Lewis Group was losing money and needed big changes. She had rejected Scott's proposal outright. A few major shareholders loved her ideas. They even suggested she should join the executive team and help run the company. But that was just her first move. The real drama was yet to come. "That Ms. Lewis must be crying right now," Zachary smirked, stepping on the gas. "I think she'll love her new job," Chloe replied, amused. With just the remark about "needing professionals," she'd put an end to Carolyn's chance to get into management. Right now, Carolyn probably wished the ground would swallow her whole. Since she and her mother loved to scheme, Chloe decided to play along—and see how far they could go. ***** Carolyn wanted to burn the whole Lewis Group down. She knew the executive role was gone, but as Scott's daughter, she thought she'd at least be made a department head, or maybe even a branch manager. Then she saw the position HR assigned her. Janitorial! "Janitorial? Are you kidding me?" she screamed, jabbing a finger in the HR manager's face. "Do you know who I am? I'm the chairman's daughter! How dare you stick me with cleaning? Don't you think he'll have your job for this?" The HR manager stayed perfectly calm. "Ms. Lewis, this assignment follows company policy. Based on your submitted materials, we don't have a role that fits your profile. Even our front desk greeter requires relevant experience. You..." He gave a polite, dismissive smile. "You aren't a match." "What do you mean, not a match? I'm a star! I'm Carolyn Lewis! This whole company belongs to my family! And you want me to clean floors? I'll have you fired!" she snarled. She spotted Scott walking over and raised her voice even louder. The manager didn't flinch."Firing me isn't your decision. Placing you in janitorial was a board decision. I'm just here to inform you. You can take the position, or you can leave." With that, he turned and walked away. He nodded briefly at Scott as he passed. "Mr. Lewis." Carolyn pointed after him, her voice shaking with rage. "Dad! Did you see that? Even an HR nobody looks down on me now! They want me to be a janitor—this is insane!" "This is what you get for not taking your studies seriously. You didn't even finish community college, and you still have the nerve to complain?" Scott shot her a dark look. "Let's go home. Haven't you embarrassed yourself enough already?" Carolyn stood frozen. He thought she was the embarrassment? What did that mean? Her executive title, her management position, her status as a shareholder—was it all gone? Even in the car, she kept blaming Chloe. "Dad, you saw it! Chloe did this on purpose. She went after me on the film set too—she had me arrested! She's targeting me. You have to do something. If I actually work as a janitor, everyone will laugh at me until the day I die!" She paused, then added in a lower voice, "If Mom finds out what happened today, she's going to lose it." Scott's face was grim. He was in a bad mood himself. It was supposed to be a simple meeting, but Chloe's speech got all the shareholders excited. His own ideas were shot down one after another. She had won them over just like that. If she really managed to turn the company around... he might end up losing his seat as chairman altogether.
