He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 197 Partnership

Robert tilted his head toward Oralia with a mischievous grin. "Hey, you think we could make a killing if we leak his photos now?" "Kid, you've got nerve!" Oralia gave him a thumbs-up. "I'm seriously in awe. No wonder you're my goddess's son!" After Landon finished the introduction, he stepped back respectfully, giving Eugene the floor. Eugene walked forward at a relaxed pace and took the seat across from Chloe. Darin placed the cooperation agreement on the table between them. For a moment, everything else seemed to fade away, as if only Chloe and Eugene existed in the room. Their eyes locked, seeing only each other. "Let me introduce myself properly. Cosmos Group... Eric. Though I prefer it when you call me Eugene." Eugene smiled and extended his hand.Chloe looked at his offered hand and returned the smile. "LOVELESS, Chloe." She placed her hand in his. They exchanged a look that said more than words ever could. Leo stood behind Chloe. As the company's acting CEO, it was normal for him to be there, but he found himself sizing Eugene up repeatedly. Height? Check. Build? Definitely. Looks? Absolutely. And his wealth? Beyond measure. He caught himself sizing Eugene up like a father selecting a husband for his daughter and quickly shook off the thought. Standing straight behind Chloe, he watched as she and Eugene signed the cooperation agreement. Once the signatures were complete, Landon clapped. "Perfect. Darin, have PR release the announcement. From this moment, Cosmos Group and LOVELESS are official partners. We're basically family now." "Family?" Leo echoed, slightly confused."We're each other's most important partner. From now on, our brands will rise and fall together, standing at the top as one," Landon explained with an easy smile. "Makes sense," Leo replied with a faint smile. He shot Eugene another quick glance but said nothing more. With the signing wrapped up, Landon suggested everyone move to the lounge area. The company had prepared plenty of food and drinks for everyone to relax after the busy event. Oralia took Robert's hand and left first. Leo and Landon exited together. Soon, the conference room emptied as if by unspoken agreement, leaving only Chloe and Eugene behind. Chloe remained seated, her expression calm. Eugene walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking down at the reporters still gathered outside. The news about the partnership was likely already spreading, and public interest would only grow. His eyes on the scene below, he spoke softly. "When did you figure it out?" Chloe lifted her gaze. "What exactly are you asking?" "Let me rephrase. When did you first start suspecting who I was?" Eugene turned, leaning back against the window, his eyes fixed on Chloe. Chloe thought for a moment, then answered, "Let's just say... from the very first second I saw you, I knew you weren't ordinary." A small smile touched Eugene's lips. "As for knowing you were the owner of Cosmos Group... it started after you were attacked. When you had your 'accident,' Landon was the most panicked person there." Chloe gave a slight shrug. "But what really confirmed it was at Mistveil Manor. There ain't too many people in the world that Mr. Slade respects this much." Eugene listened and let out a soft chuckle. He didn't offer any explanations, only said in a calm, low voice, "I never meant to hide it from you. But if I publicly use the name Eric, it puts everyone around me in danger.""I understand. Everyone has their secrets." She had hers, after all. Chloe stood up. "How's the view from here?" Eugene asked, gesturing for her to join him by the window. Chloe walked over. From that height, the city stretched out below them in a sweeping panorama. The Cosmos Group building was a landmark, and standing by this floor-to-ceiling window—feels like looking down from a throne. "About last time... I'm sorry. I kissed you without asking first." Chloe didn't turn to look at him, her gaze still fixed on the streets below. After a moment, she finally replied, "It's fine. You were in a tight spot. I get it." She then turned away from the window. "Let's go. We shouldn't keep everyone waiting. Time to eat." "Alright," Eugene replied softly.Chloe turned and left first. Eugene stayed where he was, leaning against the window. His eyes followed her until she disappeared from view. Only then did he murmur under his breath, "Even if I could do it over, I wouldn't regret it. I'd do it again."
