Chapter 191 Clean Up Your Mess

"Mom, that's enough. I'll deal with this." Arthur's voice was firm. He shot a glance at Jennifer, silently urging her to intervene and lead Madilyn away. Nothing Madilyn said right now would help. He just needed Jennifer to get her out of there so he could have a moment alone with Chloe. He turned to Chloe, his expression earnest. "Chloe, there are so many things we need to clear up. Just give me a few minutes. Can we please sit down and talk?" In that moment, Arthur's focus was entirely on Chloe. He was pleading with her, from the bottom of his heart, for just one chance to have a chat. Jennifer watched Arthur's intense demeanor. Her face remained a calm mask. Instead of pulling Madilyn away, she spoke softly. "Arthur, when you say things like that, do you ever think about how I feel?" Arthur fell silent.Jennifer's words were amplified in front of the media. Here was Arthur, begging his ex-girlfriend Chloe for a chance to talk—right in front of his current girlfriend. It made Jennifer look insignificant. No wonder she spoke up. Her tearful, fragile expression tugged at heartstrings. Arthur really was in the wrong here. How could he do something like that? And Chloe, too—if Arthur was her ex, why couldn't she just let go and leave him alone? Darin leaned over and whispered something into Landon's ear. After listening, Landon moved closer to Chloe and said quietly, "The online comments are blowing up again. They're saying you're Arthur's ex, that you're still tangled up with him. Now he's gazing at you like that right in front of his new girlfriend. They're saying your behavior isn't right." Faced with such ridiculous accusations, Chloe didn't bat an eye. She looked at Arthur with nothing but contempt. "Arthur, wipe that pathetic look off your face. Sort out your messy relationships and keep your mother in check. Stop trying to get a reaction from me." Chloe's eyes turned icy. "Because... none of you are worth my time." "Chloe! Say that again if you have the nerve!" Madilyn shrieked, her face red with anger. "Chloe, how can you say something so cruel?" Arthur stared at her, stunned. Chloe had always been so gentle. How could her words cut so deep now? "Chloe, now that you're successful, you think you can look down on everyone? So the Myers family means nothing to you now?" Jennifer sighed. She stepped forward and took Arthur's hand. "Arthur, let's just go home. Chloe isn't going to listen to anything you say right now." Madilyn chimed in loudly, "That's right, Jennifer, let's go. He's gone nuts—just leave him be."Jennifer felt a thrill. Madilyn openly said such words; it confirmed her special relationship with Arthur and showed she had his mother's approval. "Mrs. Myers, it's okay. As long as Arthur is happy, I'm willing to do anything," Jennifer murmured softly. She didn't leave but chose to stay quietly by Arthur's side. She was playing the part of the devoted girlfriend perfectly. And yet, Arthur's attention was still entirely on Chloe. He was truly treating Jennifer poorly. Online, support for Jennifer started to grow. No matter how impressive Chloe was, Arthur had moved on—he had a girlfriend and a child. Chloe should just back off and stop with the mind games. Leo couldn't stand these attention-seeking losers—especially that old hag who'd just openly spread rumors about his relationship with Mirabelle. He strode forward, ready to take matters into his own hands. Chloe reached out and stopped him."If I need you to clean up this mess for me, then I've really failed. Sorry—give me a moment. I used to be too soft. Not anymore." Chloe's voice was calm as she descended the steps and walked toward Jennifer and Arthur standing close together below. A minute ago, she'd received a video on her phone—from Robert. Robert texted, "Mommy, just take down that goody-two-shoes! She flaunts herself every single day, it's disgusting." After reading Robert's message, Chloe put her phone away and gestured for Leo to stay back. Arthur and she were over. He kept forcing himself back into her view, over and over. If polite refusal didn't work, then it was time to make sure they stayed out of her life for good. "Arthur, so this is your precious 'first love'?" Chloe's tone was cool. Her gaze swept over Jennifer standing beside him. "Figures. With your taste, you'd only ever end up with someone like this."
