He Cheated. I Rose.
Chloe's gaze swept past Jennifer and Jenarth before locking back on Arthur. "I'm not staying here to be an eyesore any longer. Just sign the papers, Arthur. My lawyer is waiting outside." Arthur's eyes instinctively darted toward the entrance. Realizing what he was doing, his expression darkened with anger. "That's enough, Chloe! You are my wife—the lady of the Myers family. This little performance of yours has gone far enough." "The title of 'lady of the Myers family' means nothing to me," Chloe retorted, her voice icy. "In my world, I don't put up with nonsense. And you—you're the embodiment of it." She didn't even glance toward Jennifer and Jenarth as she spoke. "Go on, Arthur. Sign it. I'm sure there's no shortage of women eager to take my place." Jennifer stepped forward, voice trembling slightly. "Ms. Lewis, you've misunderstood... There's nothing between Arthur and me. He's only helping me because I saved him once, and now I'm in a difficult situation..." "Did I ask you?" Chloe cut in, her tone sharp and her eyes cold. Jennifer lowered her head, looking as if she were on the verge of tears. Watching Chloe treat Jennifer so harshly, Arthur lost his temper. "Chloe, you're being completely unreasonable. Robert is my son. I won't allow you to drag him into your theatrics." "Robert is old enough to decide for himself who he wants to be with. If you want to fight me for custody, go ahead. But I wonder how some people would feel about that." As she spoke, her eyes drifted meaningfully toward Jennifer and Jenarth. "Since when did you become so vicious, Chloe? Was the person you used to be just an act?" Arthur demanded, disbelief written across his face. "You finally understand, Arthur. The woman you thought you knew never existed. Remember this—this is who I really am." A cold smile touched her lips. "Now sign. Unless you're a coward."Coward—that word again. Arthur's anger boiled over. The woman standing before him was all defiance, openly challenging him and making a scene in his own home. This was the simple country girl Charles had chosen for him? What a cruel joke. He let out a bitter laugh. How ironic. Fury surged through him. Seeing how determined she was, he sneered, "Fine. Since you're begging for it, I'll give you exactly what you want." He snatched the divorce agreement and skimmed through the terms. Chloe wasn't asking for a single penny—only the small inheritance left by her mother. To anyone else, it looked like she was getting the short end of the stick. If she had demanded half of his assets, she would have walked away with billions of dollars. There's no way she's really leaving empty-handed, Arthur thought. This has to be some kind of act—a backup plan. She'll probably come crawling back in a few days, begging to stay."Let me make one thing clear," he warned, pen in hand, his eyes fixed on her. "Once you walk out of the Myers family, don't expect to ever come back." "Stop wasting my time. Just sign it," Chloe shot back, not even bothering to look at him. Her relentless attitude pushed Arthur over the edge. How did she become so ruthless? "Arthur, please, don't be rash," Jennifer pleaded, stepping forward as if to take his hand. "If this is because of me, I'll leave with Jenarth right now. You two shouldn't—" "Enough!" Arthur roared, cutting her off. Without another word, he scrawled his signature across the divorce papers. A flicker of triumph passed through Jennifer's eyes as she watched him sign. For Chloe, it was as if a heavy weight had finally been lifted. Once he finished, Arthur slammed the documents onto the table. "Remember this, Chloe. You're the one who asked for this. Once you step out that door, you are no longer part of the Myers family. Even if you come begging on your knees, I won't take you back." Chloe remained utterly unfazed by his outburst. She picked up the signed papers gracefully, a faint, cool smile playing on her lips. "Thank you, Mr. Myers. I wish you and your beloved a happy life together... and plenty of children." "You—!" Arthur exploded, but Chloe had already turned and walked away without a backward glance. Sarah, who had been standing nearby, hurried over as Chloe moved to leave. "Mrs. Myers, I've packed all your belongings. Should I—" "Let her go!" Arthur barked. Chloe glanced at Sarah and smiled lightly. "I've told you before, Sarah—those things are just junk. You can throw them all away." With that, she walked out, head held high, without another word.
