He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 12 The Recording

Arthur drew a deep breath, deciding to cease further argument with Chloe. He turned his attention to Robert and commanded, "Robert, you're coming home with me now." Robert met his gaze calmly. "Make those two fakes beside you disappear, and I'll go home with you right now. Otherwise, forget it." Arthur was furious. Jennifer stared at Robert, her eyes momentarily flashing with shock at his sharp words. She never expected such young children could speak with such cutting clarity. Was this truly the child's own thinking, or had Chloe been coaching him? Hearing Robert's words, a cold fury ignited in Arthur's eyes. The thought that Chloe had influenced Robert to become so disrespectful instantly eroded his remaining patience."Robert, is this how your mother has raised you? To be this rude and undisciplined?" Arthur no longer cared about their public surroundings, his anger boiling over. Robert wasn't about to back down either. He pointed directly at Jennifer and Jenarth. "Anyone with basic perception can see these two are trouble. Both of you, old and young, are nothing but schemers. You tried to frame my mother, and you—" his gaze shifted to Arthur, "—acting all magnanimous while being completely clueless! You're not just foolish, you're utterly hopeless." "Robert, how dare you speak to your father like that!" Jennifer exclaimed in feigned shock. "Oh, so you do acknowledge he's my father?" Robert shot back with a sarcastic glance. "Robert, what have I ever done to you? Why are you shouting at me?" Jenarth hung his head, his eyes welling up with manufactured tears. "It's fine if you dislike me, and it's fine if you yell at me. But please, don't speak about my mother that way. She's all I have." "Enough!" Robert held up a silencing finger.Jenarth looked at him, tears trembling on his lashes as if he might burst into sobs at any moment. Robert's gaze swept past Arthur before coldly settling on Jennifer and Jenarth. "Next time you plan to set someone up, you might want to be more discreet about it." Jennifer stared at Robert's determined expression, and a sudden dread gripped her heart. An ominous premonition washed over her. The atmosphere grew palpably tense. Everyone in the restaurant had heard Robert's accusation, and all eyes now focused on him, waiting to see what would happen next. Noticing the panic in Jennifer's eyes, Robert didn't hesitate. He pulled out his phone and, with a few quick taps, activated the restaurant's speaker system. As confused murmurs spread through the room, a recorded conversation began to play—featuring Jennifer and Jenarth's voices clearly discussing their scheme. "Jenarth, I'll approach them first. You follow shortly and make sure we teach Chloe and her son a proper lesson." "Understood, Mommy. Remember to fall toward the right side of the table—that's the camera blind spot. No matter what happens, the surveillance won't capture it..." "Got it." "Let's make them regret ever coming here today. Heh!" Hearing the recording, Jennifer completely lost her composure. She stared at Robert in horror. "What is this?" she stammered, unable to believe their private conversation was now being broadcast to the entire restaurant. A cold smile touched Robert's lips. "If you're going to play dirty, at least learn to cover your tracks. Seriously? You connected to the restaurant's WiFi the moment you arrived. Next time you're plotting something on your phone, you might want to disable your Bluetooth first." Jenarth instinctively checked his phone for active connections—a movement that sealed their guilt in the eyes of every witness. Everyone saw the panic and shame flash across the young boy's features. The truth was now undeniable. No further evidence was needed. Realizing the situation was spiraling out of control, Jennifer desperately attempted damage control. "This isn't true! How could I possibly set someone up? It must be you... you..." She pointed a trembling finger at Robert, raising her voice. "You fabricated this! You're deliberately targeting me! How does a child your age even know about such technical things? This is terrifying! Did your mother teach you to frame me like this?" "Still performing?" Robert rolled his eyes, his expression thoroughly unimpressed as he glanced toward Arthur. As for Arthur—this clueless, hopeless man—there was clearly no saving him. At this moment, Arthur stood utterly bewildered, as if unable to process what he was witnessing. What a complete fool! The entire restaurant had heard the damning recording. Now, all the angry and disapproving stares turned toward Jennifer, with some guests openly criticizing her false innocence. Others directed their disappointment toward Arthur for his passive complicity. Arthur remained frozen in place, struggling to accept that Jennifer could have orchestrated such a scheme—and that Jenarth would participate in it! "Arthur, it's not what it seems! How could I ever do something like this?" Jennifer grabbed his arm desperately. "I would never! There must be some misunderstanding!" She clutched her chest dramatically, feigning injury. "Arthur, this has to be a mistake! Jenarth and I were simply having a meal... I only approached them to build rapport with Chloe... I wanted to help mend your relationship... I..."
