He Cheated. I Rose.
Arthur looked over his shoulder at Jennifer, noticing her gentle expression. Without any preamble, he told her, "Get ready for tomorrow night. You're coming to the event with me. If you see anything you like at the auction, I'll get it for you." He turned and made his way upstairs without another word. Jennifer watched him go, a proud smile spreading across her face. Perfect! She had gotten Arthur to agree to take her along without lifting a finger, and he'd even promised to buy her something. What he gave her didn't really matter—she had already won. From this moment on, everything about Arthur would belong to her. Too bad Chloe would never get to go to an event like this. She really wished Chloe could see her standing next to Arthur, walking with him through the grand ballroom. That foolish woman had let Arthur go so easily. Jennifer wanted her to witness how Arthur would own up to their relationship in public and how he'd present her to everyone with pride. Soon, everyone would know that she, Jennifer, was the future lady of Myers Group. As for Chloe and her little brat, they weren't even worth her thoughts. She would be the one to have all this to herself. Jennifer quickly made a call. When someone answered, she spoke quietly, "Have that new LOVELESS evening gown delivered to Myers Manor—the custom one that costs 800 thousand." Once Jennifer ended the call, she dropped her smile. She settled elegantly into her seat, fidgeting with the gilded invitation once more, her smirk turning increasingly self-satisfied. *****Riverville Prime Residence... Oralia lay stretched out on the sofa, looking completely at ease. "Tonight's the night! I should've grabbed an invitation too so I could go with you," Oralia said, her face clouded with melancholy. "I wanna show up with you—just once is enough." Chloe rolled her eyes at her, feigning seriousness. "I have plans tonight. Watch Robert for me while I'm out." Robert immediately raised his hand. "I'm a big kid! I don't need a babysitter!" "Hey kiddo! Wanna play a game later? You win, I'll call you 'big bro'—deal?" Oralia leaned in, grinning like a tease. Robert's eyes lit up like little stars, chest puffed out with pride. He glanced over at Chloe and shrugged casually, a tiny smirk tugging at his lips. "Mommy, she's basically begging to call me bro! I don't even get a say!" "You little rascal, talking like you've already won! I'm actually pretty good, you know. Don't believe me? We'll see who's sniffling and wiping their eyes later." Oralia poked his forehead playfully. "Ha, don't blame me when I show you up." "If you win, I'll cover your allowance for a whole year," Oralia said, sounding confident. "I'll show you what real skill means." Chloe watched the two messing around, then stood up gracefully, ready to get prepared for tonight's charity gala. Right then, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID—it was an unknown number. Remembering Landon had said his secretary would contact her, she answered. "Is this Ms. Chloe Lewis?" a gentle male voice asked. "Yes." "Ms. Lewis, here's the plan..." An hour later, the car sent for Chloe arrived at the hotel right on time. Landon's secretary, Darin Bazan, was waiting. He personally opened the car door for her."Ms. Lewis, as Mr. Voss instructed, I'll take you to get ready now." "Alright." Chloe got into the car. Darin had briefed her—everything for today was arranged, including the dress and jewelry for the event, which had been delivered to her. After about ten minutes, the car pulled up outside a private styling studio. Upon their arrival, Chloe spotted several staff members dressed in sleek, matching uniforms standing by the entrance, already waiting to greet them. "Welcome, Ms. Lewis!" The woman in charge stepped forward and introduced herself as the studio manager. She would be handling Chloe's styling. "Ms. Lewis, your dress is all prepared. You can leave the rest to them. I'll wait outside," Darin said respectfully. "Mr. Voss mentioned he'll be running a bit late, so please go on to the venue first. Here is your personal invitation."Chloe took the black invitation from Darin. She saw her name printed on it—they had clearly thought of every detail. "Thank you. I understand," Chloe said. She put the invitation away and followed the staff into the studio to get ready. The makeup team knew what they were doing. As soon as they saw the color of her dress, they understood the perfect style for Chloe. "Ms. Lewis, you look absolutely gorgeous—even more beautiful than any movie star," the stylist said, smiling warmly at Chloe's reflection in the mirror. "Thank you," Chloe replied simply, letting them continue their work.
