The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
Emma didn't want Corvin to keep worrying about her. He had fought and worked all day as well; his body had only just recovered and was clearly exhausted. "Let's go back to the cabin. Edric called me several times earlier—I told him I'd call him back after everything was handled. "Once we get back, you take a shower first. I'll call Edric, then give you some mental comfort. After that, we'll get some proper rest tonight. Tomorrow we'll help repair the damage with everyone else." At that, Emma also told the staff nearby to get some rest. Everything else could wait until morning. Corvin immediately shifted into his large, fluffy liger beast form. "Ms. Tibarn, the hover vehicle isn't usable right now. Ride on me—I'm fast." Emma didn't argue. She climbed onto Corvin's back, and they rushed back to the cabin.Nothing there had been damaged. Everything was exactly as they left it. But the moment they walked in, they heard Coalball chirping nonstop. Did something happen to Coalball?! Emma and Corvin exchanged a look and sprinted for the bedroom. … Inside, Coalball stood on the desk with his claws planted firmly on the flowerpot, one wing on his hip and the other jabbing repeatedly at Silas' small plant form. "Chirp, chirp! Chirp! Chirp, chirp!" You useless stick, is this what you've become?! That pathetic little bloom! I didn't even get to talk to Emma before I reverted! Do you have any idea?! "Chirp! Chirp—chirp, chirp! Chirp!" Don't pretend you can't hear me. You did that on purpose, didn't you?! I risked my life to drag you back here, and this is how you repay me?! Silas Hamblin, drop the act! I know you're conscious! It was the first time Corvin had ever seen Coalball so enraged. He whispered to Emma, "Ms. Tibarn… what did the tree branch do to Coalball? I'm pretty sure Coalball is swearing at it right now." Emma nodded. "I think so too." What on earth did Silas do to make Coalball this mad? Neither of them dared approach. Meanwhile, seeing Emma had returned, Silas stopped pretending to be inert and responded. "Your Highness, please calm down. How could I possibly trick you? If I did, I wouldn't have wandered all the way here with you." Lucien said nothing, but Silas continued, "If I wanted to harm you, I also wouldn't have risked myself to save you when that high-tier Chitinid tried to kill you." Still, Lucian said nothing."If I wanted to harm you, I would not have drained my own ability to help you fight," Silas reminded. "I'm not the reason for your current state of being, but my entire pathetic situation had to do with you. "If not for you, I would still be the highly respected First Commander admired by all beastkind. Not… a potted plant." Lucien was stumped now, rendered at a loss for words. Silence at last, and Silas relaxed his leaves, letting the new ones stretch out slowly. Yes, he did it on purpose. And so what? Four petals were enough for Lucien to kill that serpent. And he had promised Emma he would grow another leaf that day. He did not intend to break that promise. Seeing Coalball finally quiet down, Corvin moved in quickly, grabbed him by the scruff, and headed out. "Coalball, don't bully Ms. Tibarn's Divine Tree. If anything happens to it, you'll be in trouble. Come on, you're filthy. Where did you even go today? You look like you crawled through a swamp." Coalball's dirt smeared Corvin's hand entirely. He didn't dare let Coalball touch Emma in passing. "Ms. Tibarn, I'm going to wash Coalball. Call Edric first—I'll come keep you company afterward." After everything that day, Corvin would not risk leaving Emma alone. Also, what if she had nightmares again? "Alright." Emma watched them leave. The moment she shut the bedroom door, a warm body pressed up behind her. "Emy. I can feel how heavy your heart is. Were you frightened by today?" Silas' gentle voice sounded right in her ear. Emma turned to look at him. He looked exactly as he had in her dream the night before—except now there was a softness in his eyes."Silas… you're healed?" Her voice lifted with relief. Silas nodded. "Thanks to the blood you fed me, I recovered quickly. But I've only just stabilized. I can't hold this form for long. Emy, I can recover slowly. From now on, you're not allowed to feed me blood again." Emma nodded immediately, far too quickly. "I know." Silas warned. Emma ignored. A very balanced division of labor. "You know everything that went down?" she asked him. Silas nodded. "We plant-based Etherians can communicate with vegetation. Wherever there are plants, we can perceive what happens there."
