The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
Edric wasn't about to let Emma do all the work. That'd be going too far. By the time he was done, he found her sitting in the living room as she browsed through her lightcore. Corvin and Coalball were nowhere to be seen. He had no idea where they'd gone. Edric hesitated for a moment before approaching Emma and dropping to one knee. Then, he held her hand and asked earnestly, "Emma, can you tell me the names of your other four matches? I want to try and get in touch with them. I swear on the Beast God's name that I wouldn't hurt them." If a potential mate wanted to know their fellow matches, they had to gain the female's permission in order to learn their names. Edric wanted to reach out to the remaining four because he was certain that Emma's matches weren't run-of-the-mill Etherians. Drank, Damian, Kael, and Corvin were her matches, and every single one of them was a powerhouse. There was a pattern, and that pattern meant that the remaining four had to be just as exceptional. Due to Emma's identity as a human female, he genuinely hoped that her remaining matches were strong, preferably stronger than he was. The stronger, the better. Only then would Emma's safety be guaranteed. Emma pulled him up, tapped on her lightcore, and showed him the files she had on the other four. She didn't have much on them—just their names, contact numbers, and ages. Edric could barely keep his face straight when he saw their names. He'd literally mentioned the first three up yesterday.Lucien, Silas, and Malrik. That was two MIA while the remaining one was scavenging at the outer battlefield. Good luck trying to get in touch with any of them. As for the last one on the list… Marcus. A frown appeared on Edric's face. Marcus Crowe was the heir of the Frostveil Wolf Clan and was notoriously difficult to get a hold of. There was barely any information about him, and the Frostveil rarely interacted with outsiders. So, Edric was absolutely blind when it came to Marcus. Then again, it was just as he expected—Emma's matches were all with extraordinary individuals. "Emma, it's probably impossible to get in contact with Lucien and Silas at the moment," Edric said, choosing his words carefully. Then, he added, "Lucien is from the Empire and is the Second Prince of Aurelia. Silas is the Empire's most renowned commander. Both are currently missing in action, and there hasn't been any news about them as of right now." "That's them?" Emma blurted, staring at Edric in shock. She'd heard about Prince Lucien and Commander Hamblin plenty. Edric nodded in affirmation. "Yes, that's them, alright." Emma had no idea what to say to that revelation. At this point, she had no idea whether she was blessed or cursed. Still, it made sense why she couldn't reach them. They had gone missing. It really was a good thing that she hadn't dissolved the matches just yet. "What about the other two? Do you know them as well?" she inquired. He nodded and said, "Malrik is from the Enchanter Clan. He's a scavenger. If I'm not mistaken, he should also be at the outer battlefield at the moment. Contacting him shouldn't be that hard." "As for Marcus…" he trailed off, pursing his lips. "He's the heir of the Frostveil Wolf Clan. He's a Rank 11 powerhouse, just like Drake. There's very little information about him, but I'll send word to his clan and ask him why he hasn't contacted you." Emma couldn't help but smile. Edric is as reliable as always. After all, she likely couldn't contact them even if she knew their names and identities, which she did. So, she wrapped her arms around Edric and gave him a peck on his cheek. "Then, I'll leave it to your capable hands, Edric." Whenever she knew she couldn't complete a task, she had always preferred delegating said task to someone capable. Emma was self-aware enough about her limits and would never bite more than she could chew. The Frostveil Wolf Clan received a message from the Interstellar Hunter Alliance five days later. When the Grand Elder saw its contents, he immediately grabbed his cane and hobbled speedily toward the royal palace. "Your Majesty! Your Majesty! Prince Marcus finally has a female!" he cried. "What? What did you just say?" exclaimed the middle-aged man on the throne, nearly jumping to his feet. "Marcus… has found a female?" he asked hopefully. "Yes!" The Grand Elder then handed him Edric's message and said, "Your Majesty, look. This came from the head of the Interstellar Hunter Alliance, Edric Lachman. He also happens to be one of the female's matches. Edric has sent this message on her behalf as she hasn't been able to contact him thus far." "It claims that the Beast God has matched Prince Marcus with a very beautiful and kind-hearted Rank 4 female…" he trailed off when he read the last sentence. A frown appeared on the Grand Elder's face. "Your Majesty, this female is only at Rank 4, while Prince Marcus is already at Rank 11. How…" The Wolf King, Maurice Crowe, understood his concerns immediately. He was worried that the female wasn't capable enough to provide Marcus with the mental comfort he needed. "It's fine. That doesn't matter. None of it does," Maurice said dismissively. "Nothing is as important as Marcus finally getting himself hitched." So, he raised his voice and ordered, "Hurry! Pack all the best treasures we have for Prince Marcus! We'd better make it as lavish as possible. I want Marcus and his dowry out of Frostveil before sundown!"
