Emma stared at Edric's startled expression and blinked, quickly snapping out of her drowsiness. What did little Edric do now? Why does he look so scared? She stretched out her arm toward Edric and called out in a drowsy voice, "Edric, hug me!" Edric froze. He had imagined Emma would be mad, would tell him to get out, or decide not to like him anymore. He had pictured every worst-case scenario. But none of that happened. Emma just looked at him expectantly from the bed. She looked soft and adorable in her sleepiness, making him want to hold her even more.Edric swallowed hard. Before he could speak, his snake tail turned back into legs, and he bent down to pull her gently into his arms. "Emma, I'm sorry I woke you up." His voice was filled with guilt. Now Emma finally realized what he'd been so worried about. He was just scared he'd woken her up. She touched his firm abs, looked at his handsome face, and pretended to pout, fighting back a laugh. "I was sleeping so well, and you woke me up. That's really unforgivable." Edric tensed at her words. "Emma, I…" He tried to explain, but Emma just laughed and kissed him on the lips. "Since you're so 'awful' and woke me up, you have to stay here and nap with me as punishment." Honestly, cuddling up to a hot guy was way better than sleeping alone. "Huh?" Emma's move left Edric completely dumbstruck. He couldn't even process it for a second. "What are you waiting for? Lie down." Emma pushed him onto the bed and snuggled into his arms. She suddenly remembered that Edric was about to ascend to the next level. "I just want to nap with you for a while, nothing else. That's okay, right?" Edric knew what she was worried about. He nodded gently. "Just a nap is fine." Honestly, even if she wanted more, he could hold himself back. Really!Edric quietly locked up Corvin and Coalball, whom he had thrown off the bed. He used his mental power to keep them from moving or making any noise that might wake Emma. Then he hugged Emma tight, feeling completely content. Her sweet scent made him relax all over. He felt so comfortable just holding her—like he'd never felt before. Emma slept soundly all the way until morning. She woke up because something was tickling her calf. Opening her eyes, she saw Edric's handsome sleeping face. At some point, his snake tail had come out and was wrapped around her leg, gently brushing back and forth. Emma reached down and patted his tail. It went stiff instantly.She stifled a laugh and pressed her finger between his brows, sending a gentle wave of mental power into his mind. Inside, Edric's mental consciousness was all burning fire and bubbling lava. There were small cracks running across his mental landscape. His mental power was even more unstable than Drake's. Emma couldn't imagine how much pain Edric must go through every day, yet he never asked her for help. Why didn't he say anything? Why did he keep it all inside? Is he trying to be a superhero or something? She was much gentler with Edric than she'd ever been with Drake, afraid to hurt him. Slowly, the fire in his mind faded, and the cracks healed under her careful touch. Luckily, there weren't many cracks, so it didn't take much effort. Even asleep, Edric relaxed as if he were soaking in cool spring water. His brow smoothed out, his tail happily brushing her leg. Once she was almost drained, Emma stopped. The moment she pulled back, Edric seemed to sense it and woke up. His eyes looked a lot clearer than before. Realizing how much better he felt, Edric looked at Emma with sudden nervousness. "Emma, did you just perform a mental comfort for me?" Emma didn't see why he was so tense and nodded seriously. "Yeah, your mental power was so unstable. Why didn't you tell me? "If I hadn't remembered just now, I wouldn't have known you were suffering so much every day."Edric honestly didn't care about the pain. He was used to it. He looked her over, still worried. "Are you all right?" "Why wouldn't I be?" Emma looked at him in confusion. It was just a little mental comfort, after all. He checked her over a few more times, then finally relaxed a bit and started to explain.
