The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 516 Don't Lie to Me

"Emma, don't lie to me!" Corvin held her outstretched hand, tears of distress falling onto the back of her hand. "Only the poorest, lowest therians would sew their own clothes. "Emma, you must have had such a hard life before, that's the only reason you'd do something like this…" The more Corvin thought about it, the sadder he became. "It's all our fault. Why didn't we meet you sooner? Then you wouldn't have had to suffer so much." Emma finally understood. So Corvin didn't think she had suffered because she mended Calum's shirt, but because she knew how to sew at all. In his mind, only the lowest, most unfortunate therians knew how to sew. So he imagined she'd lived as tough a life as any unawakened male therian in the Interstellar Empire."Corvin, you've really misunderstood." Emma explained seriously to Corvin. "I know how to sew because it's a hobby of mine. "Not because I've had a hard life. "When I was little, my family really didn't have much money, but my grandma was with me, and I was happy. "I never felt my life was difficult. "When I first got here, it was a little rough. I had to fight a lot of danger to level up, and I could barely afford anything with my small stash of Star coins. "Back then, even the nutrient fluid I drank was the cheapest kind. "But that was only at the start. Once my ability level increased, things got a lot better." Maybe because she'd started off with so little, Emma never really felt her life here was hard—just dangerous sometimes. At least here, she didn't have to worry about buying a house. Females got free healthcare, and the government paid generous stipends every month. If she didn't work so hard at leveling up, she could just take it easy and live comfortably every day. After she finished, Emma kissed Corvin on the cheek. Then, she smiled and asked, "You just said Marcus mentioned in the group chat that I can sew. "So, why didn't I see any message from Marcus in the group chat? "We only had one 'Happy Family' group chat, right? No one had said anything in there just now. Emma narrowed her eyes, giving Corvin a dangerous look. So these guys have made another group chat behind her back? "Uh…" Corvin grew a little guilty under Emma's stare. Great, I was so worried about Emma that I let the secret group chat slip. What now? Is there still time to delete the group chat history? Emma's stare only got more dangerous. She reached out to Corvin. "Give me your lightcore." Corvin froze, instinctively hiding his lightcore behind his back. "Emma…" He mumbled, eyes darting, not daring to meet her gaze. "It's… it's just a regular group chat. We don't talk about anything important…" Seeing Corvin act so guilty, Emma already had her answer. She stayed silent, just raised her eyebrows and kept her hand out, the warning in her eyes growing stronger. "Really! "We just… sometimes talk about how to take better care of you…"Corvin's voice got quieter and quieter. "Hand it over!" Emma repeated herself. Corvin saw Emma's serious expression, pressed his lips tight, and hung his head like a big dog that had gotten in trouble. He slowly handed his lightcore over to Emma. Emma took the lightcore and quickly opened the contacts. She went to the group chat page. Below the pinned "Happy Family" group chat, there were several other group chats. The first, "Emma's Meal Plan Group". Everyone except her and Calum was in it. Emma opened it up—it was all messages about what to cook for her each day. Apparently, most of her meals had been planned out ahead of time by them. She'd thought they were just making whatever they felt like, based on her tastes.Turned out they had a whole secret group chat for this.. Next, there was the 'Emma's Suitors' group chat. That one had Silas, Marcus, Edric, Corvin, Lucien, and Malrik in it. No Calum or Kieran. Corvin's tail went stiff when he saw Emma about to open that group. "Emma, we don't really talk in that group anymore. There's nothing to see." But the more he said that, the less Emma believed him. She opened the chat. Right at the top were a few links sent by Silas, all from over ten days ago. There were plenty of links. From the conversation, it was clear everyone—especially Corvin—had asked Silas for them. Emma clicked on one of the links out of curiosity.
