The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 482 An Even Exchange

Emma hadn't formed her bond with Malrik or Calum, yet another cub was already on the way. Kieran was still only in the follower position. She hadn't gotten around to officially accepting him. As for Corvin and Edric—she'd promised Corvin countless times she would visit him, even agreed to accompany him to Ravaryn, but she never followed through. And Edric—she couldn't remember the last time they'd genuinely spent time together. Marcus had been in a shaky mood for the past couple of days as well. It was probably something to do with his mental power. She needed to comfort him soon. And then there was Drake... "Emy!" The door suddenly slammed open, and Silas appeared in the doorway. Emma lifted her head in surprise. "Silas?" His sudden arrival startled her, but relief and happiness came rushing in. "I thought you said you wouldn't get here until tonight." Silas crossed the room in long strides. Edric, Corvin, Kieran, and Drake followed behind him. They had all come. Silas reached her bedside quickly, took her hand, examined her expression, and spoke in a gentle tone. "We heard you were pregnant again and that the morning sickness was hitting you hard. We were really worried, so we hurried over as quickly as we could." Corvin and Edric stepped closer, worry written all over their faces. "Emma, are you feeling okay?" "Are you still nauseous?" Their concern warmed her, and she gave them a small smile. "Don't worry. I'm feeling much better now."She nodded toward Alaric. "Mr. Wynn helped this time. He transferred my morning-sickness onto Lucien." Once Silas confirmed she was alright, the tension in his shoulders eased. His gaze shifted to Alaric. White robes, silver-white hair, and an otherworldly presence—like someone out of a myth. Silas offered him a polite smile. "Mr. Wynn, it's been a while. Thank you for helping Emy." "No worries." Alaric returned the smile warmly. "As a doctor, it's my duty. And if I can help Emma in any way, I'm glad to." Oh? So he has feelings for Emy. So that's why he's acting so eager. Silas didn't bother to address the implication and didn't give Alaric another chance to show off. He turned to Calum. "Marshal, I recall you obtained a rare holy medicine from the Chitinid during a major battle. "Mr. Wynn's younger sister was scarred by the Chitinid when she was little, and that medicine might help treat her injuries. "Mr. Wynn assisted Emy today. You should give him that holy medicine as his compensation." Alaric's head snapped toward Calum. Is the holy medicine he's talking about... "Marshal, do you truly possess that holy medicine?" His voice trembled slightly. Calum gave a single nod. "I did get one from the Chitinid." How does Silas even know about that? I've never told anyone. He had originally planned to give that medicine to Emma. Since he confirmed it, Emma spoke up. "Calum, please give that medicine to Mr. Wynn." Stella was her friend. If that medicine could heal her face, Emma would be sincerely glad. Hearing Emma say so, Calum nodded. "It's in my storage band. I left the band in my room when I rushed out this morning. I'll go fetch it now."After Calum left, Alaric turned to Emma, deeply moved. "Emma, whether that medicine can truly restore Stella's appearance or not, the fact that you convinced Marshal Calum to offer it makes you someone I'll always be grateful to. The Emberfox—" "Mr. Wynn..." Emma quickly cut him off, afraid he might say something overly dramatic. She glanced at Silas, asking for help. Silas understood immediately and smiled at Alaric. "Mr. Wynn, let's not make this too emotional. You treated Emy's morning sickness, and we're helping you cure your sister's face. It's an even exchange, not a debt." Emma nodded in agreement. "Exactly. You helped me, so now we help Stella. It's fair." Silas really knew how to phrase things. Alaric still looked gently at Emma."Emma, there's something you may not know. Stella's injury happened because of me. "I studied medicine in the first place so I could heal her. "All these years, I've tried everything—the Beast God's fruit from Beast God Mountain, various holy medicines. At best, they made slight improvements. "The Beast God told me her facial injury came from a rare secretion of the Chitinid. To cure her, we'd need holy medicine crafted by that creature." He sighed quietly. "To find a cure for Stella, I even sought out the Chitinid myself. But I was told the specific insect beast capable of producing that medicine went extinct long ago."
