The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
Calum glanced at Alaric in the distance. He looked eager to make a move. Right then, both he and Marcus only had one thing on their minds. They were excited to stay by Emma's side. They were also clearly plotting against a love rival. Emma looked at them and rubbed her forehead. She felt helpless. She said, "Stop overthinking. I don't feel that way about Alaric. He saved my life before, so you need to be polite to him." After all, he was her lifesaver. They really could not make things hard for him. "Don't worry, Ms. Tibarn. We know he saved you. We won't give him trouble." Calum and Marcus both raised their hands seriously as if making a firm promise. Only then did Emma nod in satisfaction and lead them back. When they returned to the bonfire, Stella saw Emma and stood up right away to give up her seat."Emma, my grilled meat is ready. Come sit here with me." This spot was right next to Alaric. Stella really put in a lot of effort for her brother's sake. Before Emma could refuse, Lucien spoke first. "Emma, my grilled meat is ready too. You should sit here with me." Emma nodded right away. She smiled at Stella. "Stella, I'll sit with Lucien. You don't need to give up your seat. Sit down." "I'll sit next to Ms. Tibarn." Calum moved faster than Marcus. Lucien sat on Emma's right, so Calum took the spot on her left. He was quick. Marcus clicked his tongue and sat beside Calum. Then he looked up at Alaric across from him. Marcus looked at Alaric, and his tone shifted from his usual lazy style. He spoke in a usual way."Mr. Wynn, your outfit looks pretty nice." Stella didn't catch the meaning at all. She really thought Marcus was praising her brother. She nodded eagerly. "That's right. My brother looks best in white." She thought Emma's mate was just like her and treated others kindly. That fox really has a pure little sister. Marcus suddenly smiled. Then he said, "Yeah, especially by the bonfire. Everyone else ends up smelling like smoke. Only Mr. Wynn stays spotless in white. The fabric even looks like it's glowing. It looks like he dressed up on purpose so no one would miss him. That kind of effort is really special." On the surface, every word sounded like praise. He praised Alaric for standing out. He praised his clothes. But on closer thought, Marcus was clearly mocking him. He was dressed too flashy and didn't fit in at all. He was clearly trying to draw Emma's attention. He was being showy.Marcus' mouth was as sharp as ever. Lucien and Calum both held back their laughter while they focused on grilling meat for Emma. Emma pinched the bridge of her nose. Her head hurt. Aren't they supposed to be polite? Is this what they call not giving him trouble? "Thank you for the praise, Prince Marcus." Alaric acted as if he had not caught anything strange in Marcus' words. He lowered his head to look at the edge of his clothes. Then he lifted his glowing eyes and smiled. "I was coming to meet someone important, so of course I needed to dress nicely." After Alaric said that, his gaze passed over everyone and landed lightly on Emma. Marcus didn't believe for a second that Alaric had missed his hidden meaning. This fox really knows how to play the game.He clearly heard the insult. He didn't get angry. Instead, he used it as a chance to confess to Ms. Tibarn. That move was even stronger than the empty vine from Silas. Calum and Lucien looked at Marcus without a word. Is he insulting Alaric, or is he helping him? Calum picked up a bunch of marinated skewers from the side and put them in front of Marcus. He asked him to help grill them. Then he looked up at Alaric. "That reminds me of something." Calum smiled at him. "I heard there is a rule on Starhaven. You must find a mate on the island. Is that right?" Alaric smiled and nodded. He answered calmly. "Yes, that rule exists." Stella had been too happy about her brother finding someone he liked. She had almost forgotten about that rule. But that rule only applied to the young island lord. Back then, her brother took that position for their sake. Now they had all grown up and had strong mates. He had not wanted to be the young island lord for a long time. If her brother really could be with Emma, Stella believed he would hand the position to someone else without hesitation. She was worried Emma would misunderstand. She was about to explain. Alaric spoke first. "The rule you mentioned only applies to the young island lord. I stopped being the young island lord of Starhaven starting last month." "You're not the young island lord anymore?" Calum stared at Alaric in shock. Not only Calum. Even Stella was stunned. She asked in disbelief, "Alaric, when did that happen?" She had no idea at all."Yesterday."
