The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
"When we go home, I'll make it for you," Emma said with a smile. If others can eat my cooking, so can he. Satisfied, Edric shot Damian a smug look. "With Emma around, I'll get to taste all those dishes you mentioned." Damian stared. What's so special about him? Why does Emma care? The meat was ready. Edric quickly offered it to Emma. "Emma, try this—see if my roast tastes good?" Not to be outdone, Damian placed his freshly grilled meat before her. "Ms. Tibarn, try mine too!" Emma glanced at the two large plates of barbecue, then at the two men looking at her with eager anticipation. Whoever she praised, the other would surely sulk. After a short pause, she took her own plate and picked a piece from each man's dish. She took a bite from each, then nodded with genuine delight. "Delicious. You both did such a great job—better than mine, actually." Hearing that, Edric's eyes lit up. He instantly handed all the meat in his hands to her. "Emma, you can have it all. I'll roast more." Damian, about to eat, paused. He really knows how to please females. He wasn't about to lose to Edric. Quickly, he shoved his meat toward Emma as well. "Ms. Tibarn, mine too. You can have it." There's plenty. If Emma eats mine, I'll make more. Edric won't win this. Between the two of them, they were offering over ten catties of roasted meat. Emma took a little from each plate, placed it on her own, and pushed the rest back to them. "This is enough for me. You two eat the rest." Edric frowned at how little she took. "Emma, why are you eating so little?" No wonder she was slim—she ate so little! "Don't feel like having a barbecue? Tell me what you want, I'll find it for you," he said, concerned. Whatever Emma wants, I'll get it for her. Damian, who's been with Emma for days, knew she always ate small portions. Now he wondered why. Maybe she's just used to small portions. Or was she too poor once? Thinking this, Damian hurriedly pulled several vials of high-grade nutrient fluid from his band and placed them before her. "Ms. Tibarn, these taste good. If you're not in the mood for barbecue, try these. If there's something else you want, just tell us. Edric and I will get it."They were males—they wouldn't let a female go hungry. Seeing their serious faces, Emma realized they'd misunderstood and quickly waved her hands. "No, no, I love barbecue. I just don't eat much. This is enough for me. Don't worry—if I get hungry, I'll tell you." After all, as a pure human, her stomach was not that large. Two catties of beast meat plus a few apple-sized mutant fruits already made a feast for her. Since arriving here, she has actually eaten more than before. "Go ahead and eat, both of you. Don't mind me," she said cheerfully, picking up a piece of meat and popping it into her mouth. The lightly spiced roast was tender and juicy, with a satisfying chew. Seventh-tier beast meat. She'd rarely had the chance to eat something this fine before. Truly, having companions made life so much better. Her days were finally looking up. Because she ate little, she finished quickly. Edric and Damian were still eating when she stood to wash her hands using water she conjured with her ability. After drying them, she headed for the rest pod Edric had prepared for her. The pod was like a small home—complete with its own bathroom, a cozy living space, and a warmly decorated bedroom. Edric had told her he'd set it up in a hurry when they arrived, and that he'd make her an even better one once they got back. Emma had seen these rest pods listed on the virtual mall before—the cheapest model cost over a hundred million star coins. Back when she was broke, she couldn't even dream of owning one. Now, looking at Edric not far away, she smiled softly. How nice. I'm not alone anymore. I've finally had someone by my side. As Emma reached the door of the rest pod and was about to push it open, a sudden chill crept up her spine—a sharp, unsettling feeling, as if something terrifying had its eyes fixed on her. She spun around abruptly, heart pounding, but saw nothing at all. Not far away, Edric and Damian were still calmly grilling their meat. Even Laura and her partner nearby showed no sign of anything unusual.
