The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
Emma's status was unique. With Calum's arrival, Lucien felt both glad and concerned. However, Calum's rank was too high, his temper unpredictable, and there were too many unknowns. He had to eliminate every potential risk. On her lightcore's display, Emma watched the three men, bristling with deadly intent. Her chest tightened. "They're not really going to fight, are they?" One at Rank 12, two at Rank 11. If they start, they'll turn my manor to dust instantly. "I have to see for myself." If the manor got wrecked, she could always buy another one—she had enough star coins. Her real worry was that they might destroy the entire Central Planet if they truly fought. "Emy, it's fine." Silas caught her hand and smiled. "Even if they want to fight, it won't be on the Central Planet. Calum knows his limits—he won't actually kill Lucien or Marcus."Emma narrowed her eyes. "Silas, did you already guess Lucien and Marcus would challenge Calum?" Silas tapped her lightcore's display. "I only guessed Lucien would." Too many unknowns with Calum, and Lucien wouldn't rest easy. He had to test him. As for Marcus, Silas didn't know their history at first, but now he knew Marcus had lost to Calum before—no wonder his face turned sour whenever Calum was mentioned. Emma worried. "Calum is Rank 12. Can they even beat him?" Silas glanced at Lucien on the display. "Whether they win isn't up to them. It's up to Calum." ... In the living room, the tension shifted as Calum spoke. "I accept your challenge." Hearing Marcus threaten him, and then his own subordinate stepping up, Calum didn't get angry. He simply smiled and nodded. "You've just returned. Eat and rest first before challenging me." "Calum's right," Emma said, carrying prepped beast meat with Silas. "Lucien, Marcus, I'm not stopping you, but you need a full day to rest. Challenge him tomorrow." She touched Marcus's cheek. "Marcus, you've lost weight. Shower first, then come down for barbecue." Then she turned to Lucien and Calum. "You too, Lucien. Calum, change your clothes—I'll teach you to grill." Grilling was simple, and Calum should be able to pick it up quickly. "Okay, Ms. Tibarn."Calum turned to change, ignoring the others. Earlier, Lucien wanted sea beast meat. Emma had Kieran bring up two live sea beasts, already cleaned and prepped. All she needed was to add her seasoning and marinate them. While the meat soaked, Silas, Edric, and Drake set up the grill and arranged the meat. Calum came downstairs in fresh clothes and approached Emma. "Ms. Tibarn, I've changed."She glanced up, breath catching. Calum wore a black silk shirt with three top buttons undone, forming a deep V that revealed his collarbones and faint pecs. His expression remained calm and distant, as if he paid no attention to his clothing. The effortless, almost ascetic aura contrasted sharply with the skin exposed to the air, creating a captivating allure far stronger than any deliberate seduction—impossible not to wonder what lay beneath the fabric. He noticed Emma's momentary distraction and stepped half a pace closer. The space between them vanished. His warm presence brushed her cheek. He lowered his head slightly, his tall frame almost completely casting her in shadow. His deliberately husky voice brushed against her like a whisper to a lover, or a feather teasing the heart. "Ms. Tibarn." The words slipped softly and slowly from his lips, the tone rising slightly, carrying an indescribable mix of intimacy and seduction. Warm breath brushed her sensitive ears, snapping her back to reality. Her earlobes flamed red. He's definitely doing it on purpose! "What are you doing?" She stepped back half a pace, wide-eyed.
