The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 390 Lucien's Questions

When they talked about being taken by the Chitinids, Lily's face turned pale. "Dahlia's right." She looked at Lucien and complained in a hurt tone, "Lucien, you have no idea how awful those Chitinids were. They even hit me. They hurt me so badly that my whole body still hurts." Lucien ignored Lily's complaints and asked, "How did you two run into the Chitinids?" Dahlia had already prepared an excuse. She had also told Lily what to say. "Lily and I felt bored at home," Dahlia answered with red eyes. "We sneaked out to have some fun. We hid it from our families and from our mates. We never thought we would run into the Chitinids." She started crying. She looked very pitiful. Lucien watched her. Emma's voice came through the earpiece. Emma heard Dahlia crying. She told Lucien, "Lucien, hand them some tissues. Show them that you care."Emma did not feel sorry for them. She only wanted Dahlia and Lily to lower their guard around Lucien. That way, he could get more information out of them. If Emma had not said it, Lucien would not have thought about giving them tissues. After hearing her, he did not move, only telling the medic to bring tissues to Dahlia and Lily. "Thanks." Dahlia took the tissues and wiped her tears. When she finished, Lucien spoke again. "Dahlia, before I came here, the higher-ups called me. They told me you are a human female. Is that true?" Dahlia looked at Lucien and nodded timidly. "It… It's true." Lucien heard her answer and suddenly smiled. "Dahlia, you don't have to be nervous. Since you are a rare human female, I will protect you no matter what on my warship." He looked at her. His voice even sounded a bit softer now that he knew she was a human female."Every human female that appeared in the Empire showed up out of nowhere. Dahlia, I am curious. Where did you human females come from?" Every therian who knew she was a human female had asked Dahlia the same thing. So, when she heard Lucien ask it, she did not think much about it. She repeated the same answer she had already given many times. "I came from a faraway planet. I don't know how I arrived here. I only remember that I was about to go to sleep. A bright flash appeared in front of me. Everything around me changed after that. Luckily, I met Kael. If I had not met him, I would have died under those ugly beasts." Emma listened to Dahlia's answer through the device and frowned. The pattern sounded similar to how she arrived. One answer was not enough for her to confirm that Dahlia came from Earth like she did. Emma kept listening. "I see." Lucien's voice came again. He nodded at Dahlia and continued, "Do people on your planet also worship the Beast God?"Dahlia shook her head. "Our planet was full of humans. We worshiped other gods, not the Beast God." She made everything up. None of the therians had ever been to the planet she mentioned. They had no way of knowing whether she told the truth. Lucien looked surprised. He asked Dahlia, "What do those gods look like? Do they also live on a sacred mountain like our Beast God?" Dahlia smiled and said, "Our gods look like me. They look human. Our gods also lived on a sacred mountain like your Beast God. There was a huge palace on that mountain. The whole mountain had many herbs." Once Emma heard that, she could confirm that Dahlia was not from Earth. Lucien asked Dahlia a few more questions. They were the same ones the higher-ups had asked her. Dahlia gave the same answers again. When he finished, Lucien told the medic to take good care of Dahlia and Lily. He turned to leave. "Lucien, you're leaving already?" Lily saw that he had come in and spoken only to Dahlia. Now, he was leaving. He had not paid her any attention, making her feel unhappy. She wanted to talk to him too. "I still have things to do." Lucien avoided Lily's hand and walked out of the recovery pod. … When the medic closed the door again, Lucien looked annoyed and spoke to his adjutant with a cold face. "When we get back, take this recovery pod apart and move it to another warship." He thought of Lily's attitude and how she had been lying in that recovery pod. His disgust grew. With his obsession with cleanliness, he did not want the recovery pod anymore.
