The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 369 Trouble Stirring

Drake halted mid-step and looked at Silas with full seriousness. "How do I do that?" He hadn't considered that angle at all. Good thing Silas brought it up. That gift really is worth it. Silas said, "All I'm telling you is this. If you're giving Lucien a gift, make it something he can actually use. People soften when they accept someone's favor. Once Lucien takes yours, when Emma eventually accepts you, he won't give you a hard time." At those words, Drake immediately pulled out an eleventh-rank insect core and pressed it into Silas' hand. "Brother, I'm new to this household. I don't really understand how things work. Can you tell me what Lucien needs most right now?" Silas glanced at the core, then lowered his voice. "Lucien is building a squad. He needs money, yes, but more importantly, he needs people." Therians from the Four Domains are fierce, which is why they are the perfect squad material. He tried recruiting from there before but couldn't find an opening. But if Drake stepped in… "I understand. I know what to do." Drake nodded gratefully at Silas. "Thanks for pointing that out." He truly was grateful. Without Silas, he'd have no idea how to win Lucien over. Silas smiled and patted his shoulder. "As long as you get it. Remember, this was your idea. I didn't say anything." He's giving me all the credit? Drake felt even more indebted to him. He pulled out several more eleventh-rank cores and stuffed them into Silas' hand. "Silas, thank you, really." In this house, the simplest man is Corvin, but the best one is Silas. "You're far too polite," Silas said lightly, while discreetly stashing every last core into his storage band. "That's all then. I'm going to grab breakfast." With that, Silas walked off. Drake stayed there, watching Silas' departing back, overflowing with gratitude. Silas is truly a good man. He didn't just point out the key measures to take; he gave me a plan and even handed me all the credit. With a brother like that, I'd become Emmy's mate soon enough. Lucien's matter has to be handled quickly. Instead of going downstairs for breakfast, Drake went straight back to his room, opened his lightcore, and contacted Thero. The call connected, and Thero's projection appeared before him. "Mr. Smith, why are you suddenly calling me? Did something happen on the Central Planet?" Thero looked at him, voice thick with urgency and worry. Mr. Smith never reaches out first. Unless something of great significance is happening. "I'm fine." Drake said, "You're in the Three Domains. Choose the fiercest, strongest therians you can find and bring them to the Central Planet."Pick fighters from the Three Domains? And bring them to the Central Planet? Thero stared at him in shock. What is Mr. Smith planning? Has his mental power recovered? Is he planning to unify the interstellar again and cause upheaval on the Central Planet? The more Thero thought about it, the more terrified he became. He hurriedly asked, "Mr. Smith, has your mental power recovered? And why do you need so many therians? Does Ms. Emma Tibarn know about this?" Why does this old man ask so many questions? Annoyance flickered through Drake's draconic eyes. "You don't need to know. Just do what I said. Make sure they're the strongest and the most obedient. The more, the better." He hung up before Thero could ask another question. Thero stared at the dark screen, panic surging. What on earth was Mr. Smith trying to do?The unease only grew. After a moment's hesitation, Thero called Emma. She stayed with Mr. Smith every day. Maybe she knew what he intended. I can't let him stir up trouble on the Central Planet. … Emma was eating breakfast in the dining room when she saw Thero's call. She was surprised. What business does he have with me right now? Emma answered. "Mr. Thero, did you need something?" On the other end, Thero sounded polite, but beneath it was unmistakable urgency. "Ms. Emma Tibarn, sorry to disturb you. I need to ask if Mr. Smith's mental power recovered?" Emma frowned. Why is he suddenly asking about that? She answered truthfully, "Not yet." "Not yet?" Thero's voice shot up, thick with anxiety. "That's bad!""What happened?" Emma asked. With how frantic he sounds—did something happen in the Aquadome again? Thero stopped hiding anything and explained everything about Drake wanting fighters. "Ms. Emma Tibarn, our Mr. Smith's mental power is still shattered. I'm afraid that with this many therians, he's going to cause chaos on the Central Planet."
