The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 35 Survival on the Line

Damian didn't take it. Instead, he withdrew several vials of pale green energy fluid from his storage band and handed them all to Emma. "Try this instead. The flavor's better." He snatched the opened vial from her hand. He wasn't concerned that she'd ask where he had acquired top-tier energy fluid. At worst, he'd simply admit he'd spent the star coins he had swindled from Edric to buy it. Emma blinked at the cluster of pale green vials in her hand. Pinch me, I must be dreaming. Damian's actually giving me supplies. And not the cheap stuff—premium-grade. She had seen this energy fluid in the Lightcore Mall. NexusPrime Tech produced it, and a single vial cost 100,000 star coins. Its high price wasn't only for flavor; its effects were extraordinary. One sip could restore stamina almost instantly. The red energy fluid Emma had just retrieved required half an hour to begin working and a full hour for complete recovery. Drake had been right. The Ashenflame Fox truly was wealthy. She stared at Damian. "Hold on, you're giving me all this? Do you have any left for yourself?" Damian nodded. "I've got plenty." He grinned, produced another vial, popped it open, and drank it himself. Ms. Tibarn actually worries I'll run out of energy fluid. I wish she could stay like this forever. Seeing he still had supplies, she exhaled in relief, opened one of the nutrient fluid vials he had given her, and drank. She didn't worry about him charging her later. She now possessed more than enough star coins.… After resting for more than ten minutes, the group resumed their hunt for beast packs. Just before dawn, the quiet instrument suddenly began beeping. Laura's mate's expression shifted instantly. "This is bad. Over a thousand beasts are charging our way, and there's a level 8 beast among them. The readings indicate wild energy turbulence. These beasts may have gone berserk. Hide, now." Level 7 to Level 8 marked a critical threshold. A level 8 beast could annihilate a field of Rank 7 Etherians with ease. They couldn't rely on a Gravicar in the forest. They could only run on their own two legs. "Head north." Emma grabbed Damian's hand and sprinted north.… She had been this way before. To the south sprawled a vast field of man-eating creepers—more dangerous than the beasts themselves. Laura trusted Emma's judgment and led her mate north as well. Evie frowned toward the north. "We're not going north. We go south." She had just seen the instrument's readings. The beasts were trending north. The south was clearly safer. "Once it's safe, we'll regroup with Laura." She turned to the three members of the Interstellar Hunter Alliance. "You three should come with me. The south is safer." The level seven peak male shook his head. "We're going north." He had just received orders to protect the female named Emma, and only then did he realize that this Rank 4 female was their boss' huntress. Their boss was nearly here. A level nine peak powerhouse, the boss would find this beast tide trivial. Watching the three Interstellar Hunter Alliance males sprint toward Emma, Evie stomped her foot in frustration. Seeing everyone head north, Evie's mate asked softly, "Ms. Graham, are we going south, or..." He speculated that if everyone was heading north, perhaps north truly was safer. Along the way, he had observed that Emma knew the forest well. She might be running north because something more dangerous than beasts lurked south. Before he could voice his thoughts, Evie was already dragging one of her mates and bolting south. He had to follow. ... Emma's group ran relentlessly for over two hours without stopping. The beast tide was closing in, and the ground beneath them trembled with every step. The three Interstellar Hunter Alliance members trailed closely, keeping her back in their sights at all times. Emma called out, "Half an hour more. There's a mountain ahead with a super-hidden cave. If we mask our scent, the beast tide won't find us." Laura panted heavily, worry etched across her face. "But the potions we have only block level 7 beasts. There's a level 8 among that tide." Without that level 8 beast, they wouldn't even think about running. That many beasts were practically walking, living beast cores. The level seven peak male from the Hunter Alliance withdrew two vials from his band. "I have potions that block level 8 beasts' perception, but only two."He handed both vials directly to Emma. "Honorable Ms. Tibarn, we were instructed to ensure your safety."
