The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
"We could just get rid of it," Edric added, after having spoken to the doctor. Right now, Emma had only just fallen pregnant. If she didn't want the child, it could be easily removed. She would not suffer any pain or be harmed in any way. Corvin and Marcus both nodded. Corvin said softly, "Yeah. Emma, if you don't want this cub, then we won't keep it." He only wanted her. Whether there was a cub or not didn't matter. Marcus muttered, "I don't want a child either." Raising one was too much trouble. What if it turned out just as deranged as he was? What then? At last, Emma understood why the three of them had been so quick to deny everything earlier. She had said she wasn't ready for children yet. What if she ended up with a little wolf like Marcus, who was lazy and reckless all day, or a kitten like Corvin, all innocent and sweet… or maybe a little snake like Edric, cold and composed? She thought about it for a moment. Maybe… it wouldn't be so bad. "I did say I didn't want a baby so soon, but since it's already here… we'll keep it." When she finished, her hand drifted to her still-flat stomach. Was there really a baby in there already? She couldn't feel a thing. "Keep… it?" Edric, Corvin, and Marcus all stared at her in shock. "Yes," she replied firmly. "We're keeping it." She turned toward Edric. "Edric, can you ask the doctor if I can be discharged? And what precautions do I need to take now that I'm pregnant? How often should I come in for check-ups? And how long before we'll know whose child it is?" Edric immediately rose to his feet. "I'll go ask right now." More than the baby, his concern was her health. What should she avoid? How could they take care of her properly? He wanted every detail straight from the doctor. Maybe it would be best to hire a private physician, someone to stay close and look after her full-time. After Edric left, Corvin hesitated before asking, "Emma… you really want to keep it?" She nodded. "You don't?" Corvin shook his head fast. "No, it's not that, I just… I'm scared. If it is my baby, I… I might not know how to take care of them." Other people's babies always looked cute, but the thought of raising one himself filled him with panic and dread. Marcus suddenly caught her hand and said in a low voice, "Ms. Tibarn, if it turns out to be mine, can we send him to Frostveil and have my father raise him?" He just wanted to be with his Ms. Tibarn. If he had to raise a little one just like himself, he'd rather die.For a moment, Marcus actually understood his father a bit better, but since the old man had already raised him, one more grandchild shouldn't make a difference. Emma looked at Corvin and Marcus, both acting as though raising a baby were an act of war, and suddenly thought of Laura's mate, Rowan. Yeah… maybe it is that hard. Edric soon returned from outside and told her, "Emma, the doctor said you can go home now. I've already taken care of your discharge. "I also arranged for an excellent private family doctor. They'll come to the manor tomorrow to look after you." He spoke gently, taking her hand. "Emma, according to the doctor, based on your term, we'll know the baby's clan in about a month." A month. She nodded. "Alright, got it." The moment she said that, her lightcore chimed. It was a message from Silas. 'Sorry, Emma. I was busy just now and couldn't reply earlier. The environment here's rough, I can't video call. About Cotton Candy—I've looked into it. If hitting him doesn't work, then trick him. 'If he really isn't an ordinary animal but a therian, then there's only one reason he's staying by your side. He wants to be your mate. Right now, you're the one he cares about most. My Emy's clever; I know you'll figure out a way to deceive him, right?' She read through the messages, and an idea lit in her mind. She replied immediately, 'I know what to do. Silas, please be careful.' After sending the message, Silas didn't respond. He was probably busy again. She powered off the lightcore, then crooked a finger at the three men before her, motioning for them to come closer. They leaned in at once. "Emma, what's wrong?" Edric asked quickly. "About the baby," she replied calmly, "we've already decided. Now… let's talk about Cotton Candy." Cotton Candy?Corvin was confused. "Emma, what about him?" Edric looked just as lost. He couldn't figure out why she was suddenly bringing up the pet's name. Did Cotton Candy have anything to do with her pregnancy? Seeing Corvin and Edric looking blank, she began explaining her suspicions about Cotton Candy and told them how she'd asked Marcus to test him.
