The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 230 I Don't Dare Sleep Here

Lucien and Silas glanced back at Emma, then quickly boarded the warship. They were afraid that one more look would make it impossible to leave. They watched the warship vanish into the night sky. Edric stepped up beside Emma, offering soft reassurance. "Emma, they'll definitely be back soon. Once the fighting is over there, Corvin, Marcus, and I can take you to see them." Marcus, standing nearby, chimed in. "Ms. Tibarn, if you miss them, I can take you any time. I'll even show you the Frostveil, where I grew up. It's wonderful." In truth, Marcus didn't exactly yearn to return. He simply felt his people might not want him back. Emma quickly regained her composure. She turned to them, forcing a bright smile. "Then I need to buckle down and train hard. When the war ends and the Four Domains are safe, if they haven't come home yet, we'll sneak out and surprise them."Emma knew Lucien and Silas didn't want her venturing into dangerous areas. So, until the conflict was resolved, she wouldn't risk her safety and distract them. She decided to stick to the manor and focus on leveling up. At Rank 6, Emma was no longer weak, capable of defeating beasts above her own rank. However, compared to the high-ranking males in her household, she still had a considerable distance to cover. Seeing Emma was okay, Edric breathed a sigh of relief. He immediately suggested, "Emma, you must be hungry. I've already prepared dinner. Let's go eat." "Let's go." Gotta eat to have the energy to practice. Emma turned and headed toward the dining room. This time, Marcus didn't retreat to his room to rest. He followed Emma to the the dining table. Even if he couldn't truly taste the food, accompanying Emma might lift her spirits. … On the warship, Lucien stared in shock at the Rank 11 insect cores Silas had laid out."Where did you get so many Rank 11 cores?" "Marcus gave them to me, actually!" Silas pushed a few of the cores toward Lucien. "He specifically sought me out after I left your study. He knows we're headed toward the Four Domains and asked us to look out for Frostveil a little extra." That guy really does care about Frostveil. Lucien was speechless. "Even if he hadn't given us these cores, we wouldn't ignore Frostveil, if only for Emma's sake." Silas shook his head. "He won't feel at ease if we don't accept it. Just hold onto them for now. Use them if we need to. If not, we can give them back when we return." Lucien hesitated for a moment, then pocketed the cores. "You beasts have such complicated minds." Silas just stared at him. And you have the nerve to say that? … After dinner, Emma went to Marcus' room for his nightly calming session. Sitting on the bed, Emma focused her energy to soothe him, watching his expression relax more and more with each session. Her eyes then swept around the room—a space she still struggled to describe—before she finally asked him, "Marcus, I've noticed you don't sleep in this room anymore. Don't you like it?" Emma remembered the night she bonded with Corvin. Corvin had mentioned that Marcus asked him to decorate the room because Marcus wanted a room she would like. Corvin, unsure how to proceed, had consulted Silas. Therefore, in Marcus' mind, this style of room was what she liked, not necessarily what he preferred. Marcus' tail was wrapped lazily around Emma's waist. He was wearing the chains she had given him on his wrists and neck. "I don't dislike it." If Emma liked it, he liked it too. "Then why don't you sleep in your own room? Why go to the one next door?" Emma looked straight into his eyes, pressing him. She could tell he was trying to be tough. Hearing this, the tail around Emma's waist tightened, and he explained in a low voice, "I don't dare sleep here. When I sleep here, I dream." Ever since the room was redecorated, Marcus would always have dreams when he slept in it. He would see Emma lying beside him, and in the dream, he could never control himself—he always wanted to do unspeakable things to her. Marcus sat up straighter, slowly closing the distance between their eyes. He explained every word, his voice deep and rough, "I always dream about you. I dream of you lying next to me, kissing me while taking off my clothes, and even…" Emma clamped a hand over his mouth. "Stop, don't say another word." Could this man not have a single innocent dream? She glared at Marcus, speaking with sudden firmness. "I don't like this room. I don't like it at all. You wait right here. I'm going to redecorate it for you in the next couple of days." Corvin's room needed redecorating, too. Emma felt her reputation had been completely ruined by Silas. When he returned, she would definitely settle the score with him. After leaving Marcus' room, Emma immediately messaged Corvin, telling him she planned to redecorate his room as well.
