The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 216 The Merfolk King Revealed

The essential oil was made from a fire-type beast and mixed with a floral fragrance. It smelled wonderful. When applied, it felt warm against the skin. Combined with Corvin's unique massage technique, it was truly relaxing. Having stayed awake all night, Emma soon drifted off into a deep sleep under his hands. Corvin continued massaging her until his own eyelids grew heavy. Then he lay down beside her and fell asleep too. They slept straight through until evening. When Edric came upstairs with dinner, Emma and Corvin finally woke up. Corvin went to open the door for Lucien, while Emma quickly showered and changed clothes. By the time she came out, Silas, Lucien, and the others had already arrived. Marcus, entering last, found that there was no place left beside Emma. He simply went to the balcony and leaned there quietly. … Later that night, the group once again crouched on the balcony, watching the calm artificial lake. Leaning against Edric, Corvin whispered, "Do you think he'll come out tonight?" If Kieran never shows up, do we have to stake out the balcony every night? When will I ever get a chance to become Emma's mate? Silas replied, "He hasn't eaten since yesterday, except for one leaf. He'll come." Just as he finished speaking, a flash of pink light shot from the living room straight into the lake. "There he is," Lucien said. They all looked down. Ripples shimmered across the surface, reflecting the moonlight. Something mysterious swam beneath the waves. Ten minutes later, a figure broke through the water without a sound. The splashes seemed to disappear in midair, falling back silently into the lake. Kieran stood there, bare-chested, his skin pale as jade and faintly glowing under the moonlight. His long pink hair hung like silk, and his slender eyes lowered slightly, lashes casting faint shadows. Stars of cold light seemed to glimmer in his pupils. "Finally full," he murmured softly. "Emma is so kind—she must have known I ate almost all the fish, so she bought more for me today." He bit his lip. How can I ever repay her for feeding me so much? When I fled, everything, including my band, was stolen by Merlin. Now I'm penniless, living off my female's care. His pink tail swayed gently under the water. Though his face remained cool and distant, his eyes brimmed with worry. Suddenly, Lucien descended from the third-floor balcony, carrying Emma in his arms. His fiery wings glowed like burning flame, illuminating the whole lake. The others followed close behind. Startled by the sudden commotion, Kieran turned sharply toward them. The moment he saw Emma and the others, he instinctively covered his bare chest. He tried to dive back into the water—but the surface had already frozen solid. "You… you all…" Trapped by the thick ice, Kieran blushed furiously and looked at Emma. Meeting her curious gaze made his face even redder. "Emma, could you please give me something to wear?" Talking to her while half-naked felt improper. He longed to sink back underwater, but his own eleventh-tier power had frozen the lake solid, trapping him completely."Where are your clothes?" Emma asked. So this is the Merfolk king, Kieran? Didn't the elders say he was cold and aloof? His soft, polite voice doesn't sound aloof at all—though his calm expression does make him seem distant. "My clothes were ruined when I escaped," Kieran answered shyly. "My ring was stolen, too. I have nothing now." Thankfully, my tail is hidden under the ice; otherwise, I'd be completely exposed in front of the female. And luckily, my tail hasn't shown, or Silas and the others would've already kicked me away. Emma turned to the men beside her. "Does anyone have a spare shirt for him?" Lucien tossed a shirt to Kieran. "Emma, let's go inside. Let him change." Watching another man change isn't exactly appropriate. Emma nodded quickly and followed him inside. As soon as she was gone, Silas ordered Marcus to melt the ice covering the lake. Half the fish they'd just bought that morning were already gone—eaten by Kieran again.
