The Alpha Warlord's Contracted Bride
Emma turned to Silas and Edric. "Did they agree to be induced?" Silas held her face gently, his eyes dark with sorrow. "Emma, no therian would ever agree to something that cruel. Not one." Edric exhaled, the sound heavy. "Silas is right." "God, that's sick." The thought made her stomach churn. On the monitor, chunks of torn flesh exploded across the screen. The bloody mist rose like a nightmare, thick enough to taste. Emma gagged and had to steady herself to keep from throwing up. "Edric," she said coldly, "tell Jimmy and Thero to end those two Rank tens." Any therian who could torture their own kind didn't deserve to breathe.Even with a contract, she wouldn't trust them. People like that would find a way around it just to betray her later. They would probably figure out how to hide their secrets from the contract. "Understood." Edric nodded and sent the order to Thero and Jimmy. Silas noticed the disgust in her eyes and quietly covered them with his palm. He knew she did not wish to see that scene any longer. "Emy," he said softly, "let Edric finish up. Corvin and I will take you home." There was no reason to stay here. The Violet Obsidian Clan and their twisted lab made his skin crawl too. And Emma did not want to get into a contract with that clan either. Silas hadn't known her for long, but from the way she lived, he knew she'd only ever fought beasts. She had never witnessed how cruel therians could be to each other. These sights were enough to shake anyone. Naturally, that included her. Edric and Corvin glanced at her pale face and nodded in agreement. Corvin stepped closer. "Huntress, let's get out of here. Ophidian's a dump anyway. I'll take you to the Ravaryn. That place actually has some life to it." Emma wasn't frightened. She'd faced worse. She'd killed many beasts. Blood didn't scare her anymore. What stunned her was hearing that therians could do this to their own kind. She only needed a moment to pull herself together, but seeing how worried they were, she didn't have the heart to argue."Okay. We'll follow your plan, Silas." Then, she turned to Edric. "Thanks for everything." Edric shook his head. "Don't mention it. As long as you're fine, I'll handle the rest." He would do anything as long as Emma could stay safe. Once they said their goodbyes, Silas pulled out his small warship and helped her aboard. Then, he passed the controls to Corvin. "My power's not back yet," he said quietly. "You'll have to pilot." Corvin nodded without hesitation. "Got it. We'll head straight to the Ravaryn's place." "Hold on," Silas stopped him, rubbing the bridge of his nose like he was running out of patience. "Corvin, you're a married man now. You can visit home with Emma, sure. But taking her and her other matches back to live there? Not happening."Even if Corvin agreed and the Ravaryn didn't care, Silas and Edric never would. Corvin frowned. "Then, where do we take her?" Silas grinned. "We're going to her place." He handed Corvin an address. "Before we came to Central Planet, I prepared a manor for Emma. We'll go there." Corvin's eyes widened. "You did? You barely move from your plants! How'd you even pull that off?" He suddenly felt guilty for not thinking of it first. Emma blinked, speechless. Silas lifted a brow. "I've got my ways. Who else would do it? You spend your days buried in machines, and Edric's too swamped to even level up, let alone buy property." He guided Emma toward the ship's resting cabin. "It's a long flight. You should rest while we travel." A small creature hopped onto his shoulder, fur bristling. It was Coalball. He'd seen Emma pale earlier and refused to leave her side. Silas chuckled. "Emma, I almost forgot to introduce—" Before he could finish, Lucien flared up in a burst of feathers and jabbed his beak straight at Silas' hand. The sound of flapping wings filled the cabin like angry gusts. "Stop!" The bird's eyes glared at him, the meaning clear—'don't you dare say it.' "Coalball! Quit pecking him!" Emma tried to grab him, but the creature darted away from her hand in a blur.He chirped again, wings trembling as if warning her, 'Don't trust that guy.' Silas laughed weakly, covering his face. "Fine, I give up. You win." Coalball stopped his attack, puffing up proudly. Corvin walked in after hearing the commotion. He spotted the troublemaker and sighed before snatching him up by the scruff. "Coalball, the huntress needs rest. You're coming with me to the cockpit." Coalball squirmed but finally gave in. As Corvin carried him out, the creature twisted around and gave Silas one last sharp glare, as if to say, 'You better not try anything funny.'
