Tattooed War God: The Urban Legion

Chapter 23: Standing guard

The atmosphere in the room suddenly plummeted to freezing point. Zhu Shengnian felt immense pressure just breathing, as he saw Zhao Wuwei's thick black eyebrows squeeze out an angry 'Chuan' character. The gaze of everyone in the duty room was focused on Tang Yulan, with sympathy, pity, and also as if they were looking at a dead man. "Disrespecting superiors, lack of discipline, arriving late for work, not wearing a uniform. Well done, Tang Yulan, are you trying to cause me trouble just after starting your official job?!" Zhao Wuwei's words were sharp, and his gaze, like steel drills, pierced into him fiercely. "Captain Zhao, you've wronged this good employee of yours. I was so engrossed in studying the security guidelines last night that I didn't sleep until one in the morning. As a result, I got constipated due to improper sleeping posture and spent half an hour in the toilet. This morning, I didn't have time to eat and wolfed down yesterday's buns. The taxi I took broke down halfway, and the driver even tried to rob me for repair fees, claiming it was caused by my excessive weight!" Tang Yulan said with an innocent face, hastily coming up with several excuses. Zhao Wuwei sneered: "So, you're saying you're still an excellent security guard?" Tang Yulan snapped his fingers and looked at Zhao Wuwei with an approving gaze, saying, "Smart, your answer is absolutely true." Zhao Wuwei was so angry he felt like his lungs would explode. He took a deep breath and said, "According to the rules, you will be deducted the attendance bonus for the first late arrival. Change into your uniform and immediately go to the lobby to take over Hu Kai's shift!" "The uniform, it's gone!" Zhao Wuwei felt dizzy and then roared, "Get me another one, now, immediately, right away!" Without waiting for Tang Yulan to refuse, he strode out of this place he detested so much.

Encountering an employee with a powerful background but poor personal qualities is simply a blow to his goal of creating the strongest security team in Lingjiang City. Back in the office, he wrote out his resignation letter. But when he thought of the dashing and valiant female president Qi Caiyang, he couldn't help tearing the resignation letter to shreds, grinding his teeth in secret, and said; 'Well done, Tang Yulan, am I, the chief of security, really unable to deal with you?' This time, it was still Zhang Xiaofei who accompanied him to get his uniform. With a lecherous look on his face, he said, 'Brother Tang, I didn't expect your skills in picking up girls to be for real. You've already got last night's beauty Su under your belt so quickly. She even came to find you before work.' 'Oh.' Tang Yulan sighed inwardly, she really did see his true colors. Glancing at Zhang Xiaofei, he smiled and said, 'Sweetheart.' 'Already calling her sweetheart, what a touching nickname!' Zhang Xiaofei said with a mischievous grin, stopping in his tracks, 'I also have a beautiful girlfriend, of course not as beautiful as Su Youyou, but she has many suitors.' 'Sweetheart!' Tang Yulan repeated. 'I call her little treasure, it's just a pity we broke up.' Zhang Xiaofei said wistfully, 'That day she asked me if I had a house, I said no, but we could go get one, and then she slapped me and left. Not a bit of a sense of humor.' 'I said be careful, Zhang Xiaofei!' 'Why, I'm not into guys.'

Zhang Xiaofei jumped forward in fear, his feet tripped by something hard, and he fell to the ground with a thud. It was half of an iron rod left from the house renovation that hadn't been removed yet. Tang Yulan collected a new set of security guard uniform, of course, the cost of this uniform would be deducted from his first month's salary. 'Brother Tang, standing guard is not a good job, it's very tough!' Seeing that Zhang Xiaofei was speaking sincerely, Tang Yulan patted his shoulder and said, 'Xiaofei, since you care about me so much, how about I let you take it?' 'Brother Tang, my nose is still in one piece after that fall, please take care of yourself,' Zhang Xiaofei ran off like a shot, disappearing without a trace. 'An ungrateful guy!' Tang Yulan curled his lips and leisurely walked towards the hall. Standing guard, a term so familiar yet strange to him. Many years ago, when he had acne all over his face and had just joined the army, full of enthusiasm and ideals. Suddenly, it seemed as if several centuries had passed. During the shift change, he saw a good soldier trained by Zhao Wuwei's men, Hu Kai. Hu Kai's face was still somewhat tender, but he was broad-shouldered and robust, with a straight back, exuding a strong military aura. This faint aura alone made Tang Yulan admire him greatly. If he were trained by a good instructor for two years, he would definitely become an excellent soldier, but the most important thing is the baptism of blood, only the blood of the enemy could transform him into a warrior. On him, Tang Yulan didn't smell any scent of blood, which was a pity for such a promising talent. 'Are you Tang Yulan?'

Hu Kai's gaze carried disdain and contempt. If he knew about Tang Yulan's admiration for himself, he would probably feel ashamed. Tang Yulan was just a logistics soldier who got by through connections and freeloading, not even qualified to appreciate himself. The only person Hu Kai admired was Zhao Wuwei. The two did not have much conversation. After a simple handover, Tang Yulan began to take over Hu Kai's sentry duty. He actually missed the days of standing guard in the army and even more so, the entrustment of his old superior. Since he had made up his mind, he decided to do his best. The receptionist was fair-skinned and pure, looking very fresh, with a face that was still very green. She seemed to be a university graduate or an intern who hadn't graduated yet. Tang Yulan didn't have the concept of not eating the grass near his nest; getting the moonlight first because of the proximity was his style. A girl's eyes were probably red-rimmed, looking as if she hadn't slept well. In no time, she collapsed onto the keyboard. Twenty minutes later, the girl screamed and pouted with a mournful face. "Beauty, do you need help? I'm the security guard here," Tang Yulan said as he walked over and puffed out his chest, making his figure seem even more imposing. "Do you know computers?" The girl murmured with her lips pouted, looking at Tang Yulan pitifully. "No problem, cracking passwords, attacking firewalls, I can do it all," Tang Yulan said confidently. He moved a little closer, the distance between them was only about twenty centimeters, close enough to smell the light and elegant fragrance from the woman's body. Moreover, two buttons on her white shirt were undone, and from his angle, he could just see the two full and plump mounds wrapped in a pink bra. "Really?"

The girl jumped up in surprise, walked around the reception desk, threw her arm around his elbow, handed over the teacup, and pleaded softly, 'Security uncle, please sit down and help me check this.' 'Uncle?' Tang Yulan spat out a mouthful of tea through his nose, a spectacular sight that left the two beauties at the reception desk pale with shock, their mouths wide enough to fit an egg. An egg refers strictly to the food item, not any other implications. 'Just call me Brother Tang,' Tang Yulan said helplessly, 'I'm only twenty-five this year.' 'Wow! Uncle, you're so young!' The girl's innocent remark darkened Tang Yulan's face. A late white-collar worker hurried into the lobby, ready to swipe his card to go to work, when Tang Yulan barked out in a stern voice, 'Wear your badge!' The white-collar worker shuddered, dropping his card on the floor, stammering, 'What, what's your name... Isn't it okay if I put it on now?' He glanced back at Tang Yulan with a look of disbelief, only to be met with Tang Yulan's eyes shining with an odd light, and quickly left the lobby. 'You're so fierce!' The girl pouted. 'Speak, what's wrong with the computer?' Tang Yulan asked in a muffled voice. 'I dozed off for a bit, and my forehead pressed on the backspace key, and I lost over twenty thousand words of my thesis!' The girl coquettishly tugged at Tang Yulan's arm, 'Big brother, please help me.' Tang Yulan almost choked on another mouthful of tea; there was an edit undo function in the document that could revert deletions, but it was far from enough to restore so much. 'Your forehead is really too sexy!' Tang Yulan curled his lips. 'What do you mean?'

The girl was taken aback. 'I can't recover this file.' 'What, you call yourself an expert?' The girl turned her head away in a huff, her breathing rapid, stamping her feet several times in succession, and began to scratch her neat hair frantically! 'Waaaaah, didn't you just say you were an expert? You're lying! Lying! Lying!' The girl grabbed Tang Yulan's sleeve and pushed him out from the front desk. 'I am indeed an expert. Just because someone can make toothpaste doesn't mean they can stuff the squeezed-out toothpaste back into the tube!' Tang Yulan almost laughed out loud with schadenfreude. The girl glanced at Tang Yulan in her disheveled state and asked, 'Can you make toothpaste?' Tang Yulan was completely speechless. The girl shook her head in defeat, and when she saw the entrance of the hall, her body suddenly stiffened, and she exclaimed, 'Oh no, the leader is here, uncle, you better go back quickly.' Tang Yulan walked back to his post while looking at the man and woman who came in. Coincidentally, the woman was Jiang Yuxiang, the head of the personnel department, whom he had just dealt with yesterday. Jiang Yuxiang was dressed sexily, in high heels, enticing black stockings, and a revealing short skirt, absolutely fashionable and coquettish.

Wearing a fiery little crop top that revealed her navel, Tang Yulan stared straight at her chest for a few moments. She appeared to have a considerable figure, and the elasticity wasn't bad, but he wondered how it would feel in his hands. Would the breasts of a mature woman sag like eggplants struck by frost? The man was a middle-aged fellow dressed in a designer suit, sporting a beer belly and sparse hair, clearly someone who frequented pleasure spots and led a life of luxury. Upon seeing Tang Yulan, Jiang Yuxiang's body stiffened. What puzzled her was how Peng Jiandong, that old man immune to the charms of wine and women, could be so protective of him. Looking at his age, could he possibly be Peng's illegitimate son? Then, she immediately noticed his gaze lingering on her sensitive areas. Jiang Yuxiang, battle-hardened, had developed a keen perception. How could Tang Yulan's unmasked scrutiny go unnoticed? She smiled slightly, her peach blossom eyes curling up at the corners. Who would have thought he was also a lecherous scoundrel? Unexpectedly, in a security guard's uniform, he looked quite presentable. Perhaps if she gave him a bit of sweetness, she might be able to bring him to his knees beneath her pomegranate skirt. "Good morning, Xiao Tang, is it your shift today?" Jiang Yuxiang's voice sounded very familiar as she said with a coquettish laugh, "I'm sorry about yesterday, thank you for your magnanimity." Tang Yulan had a faint smile on his lips. Indeed, Director Jiang had a certain charm, her voice sounded even more soul-stirring than buying a disc.
