The Lucky Space Wife

Chapter 9: Rescuing Someone

A group of people hurriedly pulled Su Dahua, who had collapsed in the rice field, to her feet. At this moment, the woman, pale and emaciated, unconscious, had her eyelids loosely covering her murky eyes. No matter how much everyone called out to her, Su Dahua's eyelids remained as if weighted with lead, never moving an inch.

"What should we do? A person... just fainted like this!" Zhang Xiaoqiu, a woman from the production team who had been assigned the same task as Su Dahua, said.

The others also looked on with expressions of uncertainty, staring at Su Dahua lying on the ground.

"Maybe... we should send her to the commune health clinic? If we're late, it could be life-threatening!"

Someone suggested sending her to the town health clinic, but the once enthusiastic members of the production team all shrank back.

The production team was not close to the commune, a good few miles away, and the journey was difficult. To make the trip, one would also need to ask for leave from the brigade leader, which would take at least half a day going back and forth.

Currently, it was a prime time to earn work points. If they delayed for a day or half a day, the grain that would be distributed to them after harvesting and paying the public grain would decrease due to insufficient work points.

This was a matter of eating, and everyone had been tightening their belts and enduring for so long, all for this distribution of grain, right?

For a moment, no one was willing to be the one to take the lead in sending Su Dahua to the commune health clinic.

"Hey, let's send her to the warehouse instead. Isn't Li's little girl watching over the farm tools there? It's out of the sun, let her rest for a while, maybe she'll wake up."

An elderly member of the production team sighed and said, 'It's not that everyone is heartless; the entire family relies on these work points to survive. If we don't strive to earn more work points, the whole family will starve to death.'

The members of the production team were in a flurry, carrying the person towards the warehouse where Li Jinfeng was. In no time, a crowd gathered outside the warehouse.

Li Jinfeng had already heard someone shout that someone had fainted, and now seeing Su Dahuay being carried over, she understood everything.

Su Dahuay was the person everyone was talking about who had fainted.

Li Jinfeng's gaze fell on Su Dahuay, who was wearing an old garment made of patched-together homespun. The patches on the old clothes were more numerous than the original fabric, clearly showing that she lived a very hard life.

Added to that was her face, pale and emaciated without a trace of color, Li Jinfeng instantly realized that the woman was starving.

People of this era generally looked malnourished.

Due to the scarcity of materials, poor diet, heavy work, and lack of nourishment, it would be strange if anyone had a good complexion.

After everyone laid Su Dahuay down, they gave Li Jinfeng a few instructions, mainly to take good care of her and to report to the brigade leader Zhao Zhongxing immediately if anything was amiss.

At the moment, Zhao Zhongxing was leading a group in harvesting, and it was estimated that he could only be found after work.

However, with Su Dahuay's condition, if they waited until the end of work, she might already be gone.

Li Jinfeng looked at the living life before her, about to vanish, and felt some reluctance.

After the production team members who brought Su Dahuay left, only she and the unconscious Su Dahuay remained in the warehouse.

Li Jinfeng poured a glass of water for Su Dahuay and, when no one was looking, secretly took out two oral glucose tablets from her space and dissolved them into the water intended for Su Dahuay.

Li Jinfeng didn't know if it would help, but glucose could replenish energy, and the rest would depend on Su Dahuay herself.

Li Jinfeng struggled to lift the woman and, holding the enamel cup with a portrait on it, slowly poured the glucose water into Su Dahuay's mouth.
