The Lucky Space Wife

Chapter 4: The Production Team

Li Jinfeng walked to the backyard, where Li Fuman and Li Qiushou were twisting straw ropes. A few strands of dry grass were twisted together to form a rope, which was used to bind the harvested rice.

Seeing Li Jinfeng, Li Fuman put down his work and first carefully looked at her forehead.

The yellowish-white cloth on her forehead had not been removed, but the dried bloodstains on the strip were strikingly glaring.

Anyone with eyes could tell that she was seriously injured and had lost a lot of blood.

"Jinfeng, why have you gotten up? Does your head still hurt? Grandpa was busy harvesting until midnight yesterday and forgot to find herbs for you. I'll go find some now."

Li Fuman truly treated Li Jinfeng as his own granddaughter. Over the past seven years, he had taken great care of her, whereas her stepfather Li Qiushou and her biological mother Zhang Xiulan were not even as good as this step-grandfather.

Feeling Li Fuman's sincerity, a warm current flowed through Li Jinfeng's heart.

The original owner was, after all, loved by someone.

Even though this person had no blood relation to her.

"Grandpa, it's okay. I'll go pick some herbs myself later. Don't waste your time!" Li Jinfeng called out to Li Fuman with a smile.

"You still have a wound on your head. Can you manage by yourself? Wait for me for a moment. I'll be right back!"

Li Fuman picked up the long gown that was placed aside, draped it over his upper body which was only clad in a sweatshirt, and strode out of the Li family home with vigorous steps. He left, but Li Qiushou's work was still ongoing. In Li Jinfeng's memory, this stepfather wasn't very kind to her either; at least every time a conflict arose between the two families, he always stood on the side of his own biological children. 'Uncle Li!' Li Jinfeng called out indifferently, with no intention of helping Li Qiushou with his work. Li Jinfeng was no saint, nor did she ever think about integrating into this family. But she was still young, not yet qualified to set up her own household. If that day truly came, she would undoubtedly leave this family without hesitation. This was her thought, as well as the small longing deep in the heart of the original owner. Li Fuman soon returned, holding some herbs he had picked from the embankment in the village. The leaves of the herbs were pointed, and Li Jinfeng didn't know what they were called, but their effect was certainly not as good as the antibiotic she used last night. Li Fuman chewed the herbs and then took a clean cloth from the house to apply medicine to Li Jinfeng. In this situation, Li Jinfeng could not refuse and had to accept Li Fuman's kindness. Because of the delay in applying the medicine, and because Li Fuman was someone who decided things decisively and wanted tasks done on the same day, the Li family's breakfast was half an hour later than usual. The broadcast from the production team had already started, and the female broadcaster's standard Mandarin came through clearly— 'Rush to harvest, rush to plow, rush to plant, make up your mind, do not fear sacrifice, overcome all difficulties, strive for victory!' 'Unity and diligence, strive to be the best, do not fear hardship, do not fear fatigue!'

When the broadcast sounded, everyone sped up their eating. Li Ailan, holding the porridge in her bowl, took a few sips before starting to nag at Li Jinfeng. "Some people, they don't do their own work, but they specialize in dragging others down! Where they get such thick skin, I don't know, but they still have the nerve to sit down and eat." "Exactly, if it were me, I wouldn't have the face to eat this meal without working!" Li Aiju also joined in. The two daughters-in-law of the Li family rolled their eyes, obviously not fond of Li Jinfeng either.
